In terms of the regulatory mandate to adjust the slot regulations along the Striper Coast, Delaware has already updated their regulations; effective as of May 19, Delaware anglers may only keep one striped bass from 28 to 31 inches in length, except in Delaware Bay, River and its tributaries from July 1 through August 31, during which time angler limit is one fish from 20 to 25 inches during ‘summer slot’ season. New Jersey anglers will learn more this week after the New Jersey Marine Fisheries Council meets on June 20.
With the July 2 deadline for regulatory change looming, the spring run of trophy striped bass is pretty much over, with the post-spawn (Chesapeake, Delaware and Hudson) cows on the move to the East/Northeast along their summer travels. Whether we experience another November to remember or not here in the New Jersey, Delaware Bay region come fall, it’s safe to say that the spring of 2023 was more than memorable!
