Don’t you miss the old days and tournament sharking at the Jersey Shore every June? No need to pine over makos, the Jersey Coast Shark Anglers is holding their Thresher Fever Tournament this Saturday, June 20, and you could still earn cash for catching and releasing a big mako!
Entry fee is $400 for six anglers, along with $100 entry for heaviest thresher shark in calcutta one, $50 entry for heaviest thresher in calcutta two, and a $100 mako release on video for calcutta three. Too many jumbo bluefish in your slick? There’s also a $50 heaviest bluefish for the fourth calcutta.
Weigh-ins will be at Captain Bill’s Landing in Point Pleasant from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, with a minimum fork length of 54 inches for all threshers brought to the scale. All boats must attend captains meeting which starts at 6:30 p.m. on Friday, June 19 at the Jersey Coast Shark Anglers (JCSA) clubhouse located at 385 Herbertsville Road in Brick Township. Tournament crews may begin fishing immediately following the meeting.
