NJ Tourney Season – From Inshore Kayaks To Offshore Battlewagons

If you’re looking to add a little competition to your weekend fishing activities, the Jersey Shore tournament circuits provides plenty of opportunity throughout the summer season.

For kayakers, the Mid Atlantic Kayak Open runs July 10-12.  New Jersey’s biggest kayak fishing tournament, the event offers multiple qualifying species including striped bass, bluefish, black drum, redfish, black sea bass, tautog, fluke, sheepshead and weakfish. The tournament is catch and release, or catch and harvest (within legal limits) with the exception of striped bass, which is release only.

The captains meeting will take place Friday, June 10th at 5 p.m. at Great Bay Outfitters located at 955 Radio Road in Little Egg Harbor Township. All participants are required to fill out tournament paperwork and have their measuring devices verified by the tournament committee and receive your tournament number. All monies ($100 entry) must be paid prior to the start of the tournament.
