The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) and its Division of Fish & Wildlife has received 20,000 brown trout for stocking this spring thanks to a partnership with the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission.
On March 20, brown trout were stocked in Round Valley Reservoir, Manny’s Pond, Mountain Farm Pond, Amwell Lake, Rosedale Lake, Rowands Pond, Oak Pond, South Vineland Park Pond, Crystal Lake, Sylvan Lake, Laurel Pond, Shaws Mill Pond, and Greenwich Lake. Brown trout were also stocked in Diamond Mill Pond on Friday, March 27.
Brown trout can also be found in Manasquan River, Toms River, Rahway River (including the West Branch), Rockaway River, South Branch of the Raritan River (below Lake Solitude), Musconetcong River (below Route 31), Paulinskill River, and the main-stem of the Raritan River mainstem
There is a six trout per day possession limit, and a New Jersey freshwater license and trout stamp are required. For details and licensing information go to njfishandwildlife.com.
