While Delaware anglers are already into the summer flounder action (16 inches, four fish bag limit from January through May 31, with the size limit increasing to 17.5 inches from June 1 through the end of the year), New Jersey anglers get their first crack at fluke on Monday, May 4.
The Garden State fluke season runs through September 25 with a three fish bag and an 18-inch minimum size for most marine waters, however there’s a special 17-inch minimum size and three fish possession limit west of COLREGS on Delaware Bay, along with a 16-inch minimum size and two fish bag limit at Island Beach State Park.
Be sure to register to fish at saltwaterregistry.nj.gov. Registration is absolutely free, but it’s also required.
