NOAA Seeking Student Art Contest Submissions Through March 31

NOAA Fisheries invites kindergarten through eighth grade students to participate in their annual Atlantic highly migratory species art contest. “We’re working through art to educate students on the importance of Atlantic highly migratory species to healthy ecosystems,” the agency noted in a release, explaining that students from all U.S. states and territories in public, private, and home schools are eligible to participate.

The theme of the 2026 Atlantic highly migratory species art contest is sharks, tunas, swordfish, and billfish, and interested student artists should highlight the aforementioned species and their (1) important role in ecosystem and fisheries; (2) species diversity and habitats; and/or (3) unique biological characteristics of these highly migratory species.

The winning artwork will be featured in the NOAA Fisheries 2027 Atlantic highly migratory species calendar.  All entries are due by March 31, 2026.  For details email nmfs.hms.artcontest@noaa.gov.
