Alicia Krebs hopped on the Shinnecock Star out of Hampton Bays where she got to experience some great fluke fishing in the shallow water of Shinnecock Bay using light tackle.Back in the early summer the Viking fleet was running sunset striper trips off the point in Montauk. Nick hopped on one of these trips and connected just as the sun was going down, making it a picture perfect evening.“Large fluke are still holding in Smithtown Bay” said Chris Sidnam. He boated this 5.41-pounder while drifting a Spro bucktail with white Gulp grub in about 23 feet of water in the bay.Wayne Maxaner hopped on the Top Hook out of West Lake in Montauk and hit the fluke ground with Captain Steve for this 7.4-pounder.Capt. Nick of the Oceanside based charter boat No Time was out porgy fishing when they hooked in to a surprise southern visitor. This 51-pound black drum was hooked on a porgy hook and setup.Molly Thomas hopped aboard the JIB VI for a fluke trip and decked the pool winning fish at 5 pounds. Congratulations Molly!– The Middle Grounds proved to be a worthy spot the catch stripers and bluefish throughout the summer months as shown by Jon Bohlman fishing on the vessel Reel Busy.
