It took him and his crew a total of two hours to get this beauty to the boat. Five-year-old twins Silas and Tucker Grimes got their first bluefin tuna 15 miles southwest of Montauk Point during an early September bite. Fifteen-year-old Jacob Portnoy from Mt. Sinai poses with his first bluefin tuna ever from the midshore ground out of Hampton Bays. Jackie Mednick and Chris Catalano caught these two matching bass in the Long island sound by 13B on diamond jigs. “It was a beautiful day the bunker schools were everywhere and the bass were all over it was incredible. We caught a handful of fish but we doubled up and caught matching sized bass. Got this quick picture and the fish were safely released!” Is what she said. Greg Maliglowka caught his personal best fluke of 10.20 pounds inside Moriches Bay during the first days of September. Nice job Greg! Cod season reopened on September 1st and will stay open until April 30th. Raf from Raf Sowi Outdoors immediately took advantage of the open season in the beginning of September by fishing with Captain Joey Leggio for this double digit one on light tackle. Talk about jumbos! Gavin Lavey along with his dad Jason hold up a 12-pound fluke caught inside the bay near Jones Inlet on a live peanut bunker. The fish was weighed in at Scotty’s in Point Lookout. Jamie hold up a fish of a lifetime from his fishing trip on the Lazy Bones out of Montauk. The trophy catch weighed 13-3/4 pounds.
