Photo Gallery October 17, 2022 by Matt Broderick Eighteen-year-old Jake Krahe (left), and his friend, Brett Nicholson (right), boated two nice fluke off Montauk Point during the summer on their 17-foot Boston Whaler. Ian Shehaiber beached a trophy striper along the South Shore of Long Island using a live eel. The fish was 49.5 inches and 50 pounds on the Boga Grip. He used a St. Croix Legend surf rod and Visser reel to subdue the beast. Katie caught her first blue in mid-September aboard the Fishfinder II out of Captree. The fish was caught near the Fire Island Coast Guard Station. Talk about a first! Lindsay’s first keeper fluke taped out at 28-1/2 inches and was caught in the west cut of Moriches Bay during the middle of July. Matthew Motamedian fished Fire Island inlet towards the end of the season and was rewarded with a quality keeper right before dark. Brian Miller fished a South Shore on Long Island in early September and caught a schoolie that he tagged with a Gray FishTag and released. To find out how you can tag with Grays visit grayfishtagresearch.org. Moriches Inlet got a good shot of stripers right after the northeast storm I the beginning of October. Nicole Gaines fished the waterway after dark with a Super Strike Darter for a mid-twenty-pound striper.
