Kim Mosey of Ocean made the switch from bait to artificials in December while getting into topwater striper action out of Manasquan while fishing with husband Bill, son Matt and Matt’s friends Harper and Ezra Lambert.Brick’s Matt Quin got into an epic jig bite while fishing aboard the Big Mohawk in late fall, scoring catch and release stripers of 39, 43 and 48 inches.With “outback” striper season finally open, the next countdown is to the opening of summer flounder; Kim Robison is chomping at the bit too, remembering the full limit day her crew had on Nev-R-Enuf out of Avalon with Pat, Ryan, Patrick and Macen.Eric Fistler is busy this spring getting everything in order for the Bi-State Shad Fishing Contest from April 24-27, but he was out in the fall along the ocean to partake in New Jersey’s other anadromous gamefish, striped bass.We never did get a last name, but with the mid-November striper bite in full swing, Guido here only had enough time to show off the striper he caught on an ava and teaser before releasing this fish in Seaside Park and then casting towards more.Brad Weil found no luck off Shark River inlet one last fall, pushing just inside the three-mile-line in 80 feet of water off Asbury Park where stripers were piling on sand eels. Adapt, improvise and overcome!
