What is and what should never be… closed at the height of the season. The recreational bluefin fishery closed as of August 12th this year and will remain closed through the end of 2025. It was sad to see it snuffed out at the height of a phenomenal year of offshore fishing success, on the left page below, you will see a sampling of the results of this amazing fishery. But just like in baseball, there’s no crying in fishing and we have so many incredible fisheries that will be peaking this month and we’d be best served to refocus and take September for what it is, an incredible 30 days of fishing. On the right page you will see some inspiration for your bluefin-less September fishing excursions. If you would like to see your photos displayed here, send your favorite fishing photos to danderson@thefisherman.com.
