Recently introduced for the 2025 season, Daiwa’s new Sol series of proven MQ spinning reels will be a nice upgrade for serious freshwater and light tackle saltwater anglers who appreciate next-level quality tackle.
Featuring the full AirDrive system, the Sol MQ puts weight reduction, smoother performance and power into the hands of both fresh and saltwater anglers. With a Zaion construction MQ body, weight is reduced while rigidly supporting each reel’s new Tough Digigears, which are crafted out of A7075 aircraft-grade aluminum to reduce weight and maximize strength. MagSeal along the main shaft provides optimal corrosion prevention for sustained smoothness.
Further improving performance during the battle, The Sol MQ features a two ball-bearing supported ATD drag system. This system gives the reel plenty of drag power as well as extremely consistent and smooth drag payout to prevent pulling or bending hooks during the fight. The business end of the reel provides anglers with comfort in the form of an EVA handle knob which remains cool in hot weather and provides the perfect amount of grip, even when wet.
The SOL MQ LT is available in 6 sizes, from the 1000 size perfectly fit for trout, panfish and ultralight inshore anglers to the 5000 size, which is well adapted to tackle larger inshore saltwater gamefish as well as large freshwater species.
Feature Specifics
The new Daiwa Sol MQ lineup of lightweight spinning reels offer a number of unique product features, as follows:
Air Bail
Daiwa’s innovative bail design features a hollow tubular stainless steel bail that delivers maximum rigidity and strength with minimum weight. The smooth, protrusion-free design and construction allows line to easily slide unencumbered along the Air Bail towards the line roller for trouble-free line control during the fight.
Air Rotor
Lighter, stronger and more balanced than traditional rotor systems, Daiwa’s “Air Rotor” delivers a great leap forward in rotor design and function, which translates to enhanced reel sensitivity and rotational balance.
Tough Digigear
A further evolution of its predecessor Digigear, the new Tough Digigear is Daiwa’s digitally designed, machine cut, A7075 aircraft-grade aluminum gearing system that ensures precision gear fit and operation, rotational smoothness and strength.
Zaion Body
A high-density resin and carbon material, Zaion resists corrosion and exceeds the strength of traditional reel body materials such as magnesium and alloy.
Monocoque (MQ) Construction
The Sol’s MQ body takes reel design to the next level. The MQ system does not require a body cover, instead using an engine plate to screw directly to the body. This eliminates the need for screws to hold a body cover in place. MQ body improves the strength of the reel, enhances the water-resistance of the body and allows a larger diameter drive gear to be installed.
