The NorthCoast 415HT is a robust and thoughtfully designed boat that caters to serious anglers and offshore enthusiasts who seek fishability as well as comforts and luxuries while out fishing. Part of The Fisherman team headed up to Bristol, Rhode Island earlier this year to hop aboard the 415 HT with some of the team from NorthCoast and try our luck tuna fishing south of Block Island.

We shoved off well before dawn, but the first thing I can recall is walking down to the ramp at the marina and seeing this 46-foot overall length beast lighting up the whole area. It was easy to board the boat through the transom door. Immediately, the fishability of this boat was apparent by the spacious area on the back deck. Walking through the pilothouse doors was when you really got a sense of the luxury that this boat had to offer – a full Galley to starboard with drawer-style refrigerator, freezer, two burners, Kenyon cooktop, microwave, and sink. The stainless-steel Edson Wheel, two Raymarine AXIOM 2XL 19-inch multi-function displays, and Release double helm seats clearly define the NorthCoast 415HT’s sporting helm.

Going down the stairs to the bow section of the boat, the head door is to starboard, and the master stateroom is straight ahead. The wood trim, floors, doors, and drawers set the tone for a spacious Master whose entrance is hidden behind a Mahogany door. Once inside, a walk-around large Queen berth with a hinged 7-1/2-inch custom spring mattress provides comfort and cover for hidden rod storage below. Reading lights and USB charging ports are on either side and there is a large hanging locker to port. Overhead is a 2 x 2-foot opening hatch with screen. A total of six opening portals with screens for additional light and fresh air. In total, the 415HT will sleep six adults in comfort, including the portside single crew berth, the aft three-quarter beam double (both with 6-1/2-inch hinged mattresses), and the convertible settee up in the pilothouse.

Powered by quad-outboard Yamaha engines, the NorthCoast 415HT delivers impressive power and speed (57 MPH at wide-open, flat conditions), enabling swift travel to offshore fishing grounds. Its deep-V hull design (24.62 degrees of deadrise) ensures excellent stability, handling in rough waters, and easy planning, making it an ideal boat for offshore fishing trips. It cuts through the waves smoothly, providing a safe and comfortable ride even when conditions get choppy.

The day of fishing aboard the 415HT was exactly what I expected it to be. A 3-foot swell felt like glass because of the Seakeeper 4 under its deck. For the fishing, Captain Conner MacLeod (Tall Tailz Charters) set us up for jigging, which had been effective on previous trips. And it wasn’t long before we hooked and landed our first fish, an “under” bluefin. After working the “slicks” for a bit with a speed jig, I was able to connect with the perfect-sized under bluefin. After a 10-minute fight, the hefty fish slid through the tuna door and onto the deck. Towards the end of the trip, one more bluefin of similar size slid through the door, making for a successful and comfortable day of fishing. .

On the steam back in, I made some more observations and concluded that NorthCoast boats are known for their sturdy build, and the 415HT is no exception. The fiberglass hull construction feels solid, designed to handle tough marine environments with ease. All hardware is corrosion-resistant, and the boat’s finish looks like it will stand up to the elements for many years. The attention to detail in craftsmanship is evident, from the welded rails to the neatly finished deck spaces.

The NorthCoast 415HT is an exceptional boat for those who take their fishing seriously but also want the flexibility and comfort to extend trips beyond a single day. Its rugged build, excellent seaworthiness, and ample fishing features make it stand out, while the cabin comforts and hardtop add versatility. Whether you’re an offshore fisherman looking to chase big game or someone who wants a comfortable platform for a weekend on the water, the 415HT delivers on all fronts.

If you’re in the market for a premium fishing boat with the capability to handle the open ocean and the comfort to host extended trips, the NorthCoast 415HT is a top contender.
