Single day surf tournaments are a great way to compete with your own tournament crew, or simply as an individual. In our calendar of events, you’ll see a few of this one-day events coming up in September, with another Association of Surf Angling Clubs (ASAC) fall season of competition kicking off on September 19 with the 57th Annual Ocean City Fishing Club Surf Fishing Tournament.
For those who prefer participating in season-long events where surfcasters can fish an extended period of time and win multiple prizes throughout the fall, there are several options coming up in the next month, kicking off on August 29 with the 72nd Annual LBI Surf Fishing Classic.
“The Derby” kicks off earlier in ’26 for striped bass, bluefish, kingfish, redfish, tautog and now fluke prizes for surfcasters. The LBI Surf Fishing Classic runs through November 29, and anglers can enter at any point during the duration of the tournament by visiting Surf City Bait & Tackle, Fisherman’s Headquarters or Jingles Bait & Tackle. On September 8, Capt. Andy Grossman at Riptide Bait & Tackle in Brigantine will kick off another fall season on “The Rock” with the Riptide Fall Striped Bass Derby. This surf tournament on the beaches of Brigantine has prizes for striped bass, bluefish, kingfish, tautog and black drum and runs through December 18. The Atlantic County tournament season continues with the Atlantic County Surf Fishing Derby from September 28-November 23. Also known as the annual Pat Erdman Memorial Tournament, this surfcasters only event offers prizes for stripers, bluefish, tautog, kingfish and sheepshead caught between Brigantine and Longport.
