What to expect in the New Year on the show floor.
As we enter the 2025 model year, there’s both good news and some “not so good” news for prospective new boat buyers. On the positive side, post-pandemic supply chain problems have all but faded away into distant memory. Most boat builders have a complete inventory of boats and many are now “making deals” to incentivize consumers to “buy now” with various rebates, special boat show pricing and/or low interest rate loans.
On the downside, inflation has still been a concern heading into the final days of 2024, with some folks experiencing a bit of sticker shock seeing new boat prices of $100,000, $250,000 or even a $1M in today’s market. Hopefully things will settle down a bit, but time will tell.
A few of us from The Fisherman Magazine recently returned from the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show to offer up this deep dive into the new boat marketplace to see what the 2025 model year has to offer.
GRADY-WHITE
This popular North Carolina based boat builder has a few new offerings in 2025 including a modest redesign to the seating section of their Canyon 386 CC. It still offers quad mezzanine seating facing forward at the helm, but with an optional trio of second row seats facing aft that replaces the rigging station. Both the Canyon 326 and its smaller sister the 306 each sport new hardtops for 2025. However, the big news from Grady is the introduction of the Freedom 345 dual console incorporating numerous flagship features from their Freedom 415 into a smaller footprint. This feature set trickle down definitely gives the new Freedom 345 the comfort, look and feel of her larger sibling in an easier to maneuver package.
This latest Freedom dual console will run great with either of her two available Yamaha engine packages, which are triple F350s or twin F450 XTOs. Some of the key standard features on the new Freedom 345 include port and starboard heavy-duty cockpit doors, port and starboard fuel fills, an elevated bridge with dual Command Elite adjustable seats, a spacious helm with push button controls and room for dual 19-inch screens, Yamaha Helm Master EX Full Maneuverability, a windshield integrated into the hardtop for full protection, with walk-through glass and electromechanically operated center vent.
You’ll also find wraparound companion bench seating with electrically adjustable table (portside helm), AV2 hardtop with horizontal rod holders and SureShade, and a rigging station/wet bar with refrigerator drawer, grill, freshwater sink, trash bin and storage drawers. Indirect lighting throughout the boat and cabins and a port console cabin with electromechanically operated sliding berth, bench seat, TV, microwave, skylight and bulk storage. It boasts a starboard console with head, shower, sink, mirror, skylight and bulk storage, plus convertible aft seating including outboard lounge (fixed) and inboard electromechanically retractable lounge seat.
PURSUIT
Pursuit recently introduced a “reimagined” OS 325 Offshore. I was on her at the Fort Lauderdale show and she is rock solid, offering the magic combination of adequate fishing features with comfort touches at every turn. She sports an overall length of 34.5 feet and a beam just 2 inches shy of 11 feet. According to factory tests, she’ll cruise efficiently at 33.5 mph at 4,000 rpms powered by twin F350 Yamaha V6s, with a top speed of 52.6 mph. A twin Yamaha F300 engine package will also be available.
The cockpit is wide open and easy to maintain with thoughtful seating that creates a lounge area for dining with seats that fold-away easily to allow ample space for angling. The new OS 325 comes standard with a side door to port with a telescoping ladder. Multiple rod holders, a recirculating livewell, two fishboxes and a transom box with removable storage container all combine to make this a potent fishing machine.
The bridge deck on the OS 325 positions the cabin entrance at the center of the boat allowing passengers to easily move through the bridge deck and enter the cabin. The portside cockpit entertainment center includes a grill with a large sink and folding faucet with a removable cover for additional working space and storage. The large single-piece, clear windshield is set under the molded fiberglass hardtop, while L-lounge seating includes a fold-out backrest allowing the portside passenger to face forward comfortably. Innovative upgrades include a split galley with features divided between the cabin and the cockpit. The new design allows for two refrigerators and a cabin with generous open space. The scissor style berth design allows for plenty of seating and converts to a comfortable berth. The cabin also includes a full-size aft berth and private head.
CONTENDER
Building on the momentum of their high-performance 26BAY and 23BAY models, the 29BAY debut is the largest bay boat in the Contender fleet. Able to take you and your crew into the bays and backcountry or 50 miles offshore on the right day, it could accurately be called the SUV or multi-tool of boats. Her 15.5-degree aft deadrise, 9-1/2-foot beam combined with a relatively shallow 16-inch draft will get you into some skinny waters where other 29-footers fear to tread. But when the tuna are running at the 25 fathom curve, her heft, bulk and solid, high-tech construction will get you out to the action in a flash.
If you’re into multiple styles of fishing, this new Contender is everything you need it to be and more. And you’ll never have to sacrifice fishability for comfort because the 29BAY has both totally covered. Contender’s 29BAY is a handcrafted fishing machine that is totally customizable and allows each owner to shape it into a precision tool to support their dream of the “ultimate coastal fishing boat. Standard with a Seakeeper Ride and a 400-mile range, no waters are off limits and no adventure is off the table.
Just a few of the 29Bay’s standard-setting features include a well-thought-out layout to maximize both fishability and comfort; a long range 185-gallon fuel tank; oversized forward and aft casting decks; ample dry storage lockers throughout; numerous seating options, including molded-in bench seating in the bow, a molded-in lounge forward of the console and jump seats for two aft; 25-gallon freshwater system; EGIS battery-management system; EmpirBus digital switching system; the first boat in the Contender fleet to come standard with the Seakeeper Ride vessel control system; a heavy-duty jack plate; twin 30-gallon livewells aft; an 85-gallon insulated fishbox forward and much more.
STEIGER CRAFT
This Long Island based builder continues to expand its appeal to northeast coastal anglers with a new 28-foot offering to augment its current 28 Fisherman and 28 DV Miami models. The 28 Peconic offers the same proven 28 by 10 deep vee running bottom and generous beam of her siblings, but with a more open air feel to her layout. The standard 40-gallon transom recirculating baitwell will keep your live ones frisky and ready for the main event. The helm dash panel provides enough space to mount a pair of big-picture 12-inch displays side-by-side, which should accommodate all of your navigation, fish-finding, radar and other electronics needs when underway.
Port and starboard pedestal seats are set on pedestals and securely mounted atop convenient dry storage lockers down under, each of which can accommodate a variety of tackle and/or safety equipment. The cabin features an overhead cabin hatch for natural light and fresh air ventilation, cabin shelves, interior LED cabin lighting, opening side port holes, and a V-berth with cushions that includes a center filler to create a roomy place to take a catnap in between bites or for basic overnighting. Other standards include forward and aft 120-gallon insulated fishboxes under the cockpit sole, full fiberglass swim platform and ladder set on top of the twin outboard bracket, raw water washdown, opening front windows at the helm for welcome fresh air during those hot summer days, a six-pack of gunwale-mount rodholders with horizontal racks under either side, along with an overhead seven rod rocket launcher installed in the fiberglass hardtop.
Spreader lights, port and starboard sinker trays, under-helm storage, windshield wipers with washers, trim tabs, a two tone deck and a step box for climbing onboard complete the generous standard features list.
COBIA
Cobia produces affordable, cutting edge coastal sport fishing craft, and this year they’ve introduced a quartet of new boats. The debutants are based on two different hulls, each of which is offered in a pair of layouts. To briefly summarize the new additions to the Cobia fleet, they are the 265 CC, the 265 Open, the 285 CC and the 285 Open. The basic difference is that the center console is more focused on fishing amenities versus the Open model that has more built-in family features.
However, each of the layouts on these new 26 and 28-footers is equally adept at performing both the fishing and family activities at a very high level, it’s just that their basic layouts and standard features differ enough to create two distinct personalities when it comes down to their mission functionality. My taste leans towards the center console version of each of these newbies, whereas your preference might trend in the other direction. There is no right or wrong choice here, just what’s best for you. Cobia’s 285 CC and Open boats share the identical 21-degree aft deadrise deep-vee hull that measures 28 feet, 5 inches in length, supported by a 9-foot, 11-inch beam, fueled by a 231-gallon gas tank. Their smaller sisters, the 265 CC and 265 Open, are based on a 26-foot, 5-inch long hull, with a 9-foot, 5-inch beam, a similar 21-degree aft deadrise deep-vee hull, supported by a 161-gallon fuel tank.
All four of the aforementioned Florida sisters incorporate Cobia’s high-tech “VARIS” construction process (vacuum assisted resin infusion system), which according to those in the know is the optimum method to build a boat these days that ensures a consistent fiberglass-to-resin ratio for maximum strength at minimum weight.
WORLD CAT
Introduced at the 2024 Miami Boat Show, the 235TE is the seventh model in the World Cat center console lineup. This 22-foot, 7-inch twin hull model is the Tournament Edition of the World Cat fan favorite, the 235CC Center Console. Designed with fishing in mind, this all-new model features standard port and starboard 150-quart insulated floor fishboxes with an overboard discharge pump (aft), four gunwale-mounted stainless-steel rod holders, a freshwater shower in the transom, commercial-grade dive ladder and swim platform, saltwater washdown, four forward gunwale-mounted rod/cup holders, and a flip-up bolster leaning post with rocket launchers, tackle drawer, plus a 45-quart Yeti cooler with seat cushion. Also standard on the 235TE are the unique fold down port and starboard forward bench seats, allowing for more casting room in the bow, without eliminating seating opportunities for the crew.
The new 235TE boasts a max horsepower of 300 horsepower (twin 150s) and a draft of only 9 inches, allowing customers the ability to fish inshore as well as having the performance, stability and safety when heading far from the sight of land. Optional features on the 235TE include four quick release fender holders, a porta-pottie with deck pump-out, deck mounted windlass with rode, chain and anchor, plus an additional Yeti 45-quart cooler with a cushion for the aft cockpit or forward console seating; you can also add onboard battery charger and a Gemlux deluxe outrigger system with 18-foot collapsible hybrid poles.
Also new for 2025, the World Cat 400DC-X Island is their latest addition to the dual console lineup. With abundant storage, luxurious appointments, notable stability and performance, the 400DC-X Island provides the full creature comfort island escape customers crave for weekend getaways.
NORTHCOAST
NorthCoast’s latest sportfisher is the queen of the fleet, the 415HT. The hull features an overall length of 46 feet, 1 inch (with quad Yamaha F300 XSB outboards, bracket and standard bow pulpit) supported by a 12-foot, 11-inch beam and a deep-vee running bottom that tapers back to an aggressive 24-degrees of deadrise aft. This is the rock on which she is built. However, the 415HT is offered in both fishing and a cruising base layout, with a host of accommodations that support each specific mission.
Counting her quad outboards and 612 gallons of fuel onboard, she’ll tip the scales north of 24,550 pound fully loaded, which will enable owners to fish or cruise further, longer, with more crew onboard and in total comfort. “This is the first model where we have partnered with an outside design firm and we are confident the new Northcoast 415HT will exceed expectations on every level,” said Northcoast’s Jose DaPonte, noting that Langan Design Partners of Rhode Island is working with the NorthCoast team on the new 415HT.
Although Northcoast is no stranger to building seaworthy craft in the downeast tradition that can tolerate the extreme New England coastal weather, the new 415HT is a radical paradigm shift from the 255, 285 and 315HT models that we have tested in the past; she is on a totally different level. “The hull sports a deep-vee profile with 24 degrees of deadrise at the transom, while keeping a subtle round-off at the keel, which gives the hull a little more lift aft and allows for a smoother transition to planning,” explained Langan Design Partners, adding “The hull’s volume is optimized to handle multiple outboards and the top speed with quad F300s will be more than 50 mph.” That is some serious fast-lane traveling for a comfortable cabin sportfisher that exceeds 12 tons of displacement.
SKEETER
This builder from Kilgore, TX just introduced the SX 2350 into their Bay Boat series of six models from 21 to 25 feet. Storage abounds on the Skeeter SX2350, with a door on the port side of the console opening to reveal access to your system wiring, battery access and plenty of dry storage for tackle boxes and safety gear. The wide 8-foot, 5-inch beam complements her 22-foot, 9-inch overall length. The raised forward casting deck offers a wide, flat elevated perch for casting, while a quartet of flush hatches down below reveal a rod locker to port, and insulated fishbox to starboard, with a dry storage locker on the centerline and a vertical anchor locker forward. Another storage area under the cockpit sole forward of the front console seat includes a 14-gallon livewell.
The leaning post offers additional stowage under its flip up cushion seat for handy access to your gear and accessories. The leaning post also includes a six-rod rocket launcher to keep your outfits out from underfoot but at the ready for any sightcasting opportunities. The aft casting deck features twin 20-gallon livewells under each corner hatch, in addition to a flip-up twin-bench seat for added crew comfort when underway that includes an ingenious tie-down lid to keep it locked in place when underway. The bench section flips up to enable access to all pumps, plumbing and wiring in the bilge area, which includes a beefy aluminum transom brace interconnecting the transom to the stringer grid to distribute engine torque.
A quartet of power options from Yamaha includes the F200, F200 V6 SHO, F250 and F250 SHO and the 55-gallon fuel tank should give you sunup to sundown performance. Notable standards include a 12-inch manual jackplate; a pair of flush-mount rodholders in the covering boards; Seastar tilt hydraulic steering; and a retractable boarding ladder.
EASTERN BOATS
Sisu boats have been bouncing around northeast coastal areas ever since Designer Royal Lowell drew up their lines back in the 1970s. Originally, the three hulls that he drafted were 22, 26 and 30 in length. The majority of these were slated to be work boats and run single inboard powerplants at displacement speeds. Fast-forward to 2024, the company that originally manufactured the Sisu lineup is long gone and the molds were sold off, never to be seen or heard from again; that is until the 22 Sisu mold was purchased by Eastern Boats and the darling little 22 Sisu is back in business, albeit with a few contemporary tweaks.
Modern composite materials plus a couple of design tweaks have made her even better. Recessed chines reduce spray and add dynamic lift to her round chines as she accelerates, while a transom-mounted outboard frees up a huge amount of usable space in her cockpit. Owners can choose a traditional framed bass boat windshield with Bimini top at the helm or an open-sided hardtop pilothouse. On deck, the only fixtures are helm and companion pedestal seats mounted on storage boxes that double as aft-facing lower seats. The rest of the cockpit can accommodate a full-transom fishbox with a cushioned seat on top, a couple of folding chairs, or a portable livewell.
The open pilothouse offers shelter from sun and weather, with optional roll-down sides and rocket launcher on top for additional rod storage. The cabin offers a 6-foot, 9-inch V-berth with a portable toilet and 69 inches of standing headroom. Performance is great with a modest 115 horsepower four-stroke outboard, fueled by a 60-gallon tank. With numerous standard and optional features, this New Hampshire girl continues to be a winner.
SEA PRO
Sea Pro Boats has added the new 225FLX Sandbar Boat to its line-up of center console boats for 2025, delivering a unique combination of fishability and family-friendly features, along with a cockpit layout that inspires fun for everybody onboard. The 225FLX is based on Sea Pro’s 22-foot center console hull for a solid and dry ride in all types of sea conditions. This easily trailerable rig is built for the long run with a foam-filled fiberglass stringer system, sturdy powder coated hardtop frame, and powder coated recessed bow rails, backed a standard 10-year hull warranty.
What makes the 225FLX a “Sandbar Boat” is Sea Pro’s unique cockpit layout with versatile seating options and amenities that help families enjoy onwater time together in a variety of scenarios. Sea Pro uses a unique helm leaning post with a backrest that adjusts to face either forwards or backwards, providing a comfortable and ergonomic vantage point for the captain and co-pilot whether driving or sharing quality time with friends and family in the cockpit. Additionally, the 225FLX features a new, larger console designed to fit a full pump-out head and fresh water sink for added family comfort and convenience. Sea Pro also relocated the traditional stern livewell to accommodate a large, comfortable bench seat that spans the entire width of the transom and features an adjustable backrest that can face in towards the cockpit or aft towards the water. Additional port and starboard stern seats can easily convert to face outside of the boat or inward towards the cockpit.
Another innovation found on the new 225FLX is Sea Pro’s custom swiveling bow table, ideal for lounging on the cushioned bow seating while enjoying drinks and snacks. It can be also used as a filler to create a comfortable lounging deck for passengers.
YELLOWFIN
While down at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show in the fall I was able to speak with Thomas Wieners, the president of Warbird Marine Holdings which owns both the Yellowfin and Invincible boat lines. According to Tom, there’s exciting news for both brands.
The proven Yellowfin 36 Offshore has been upgraded for 2025 with a slate of new features. Among these is the relocation of the aft cockpit door to the starboard side, where it opens inward to enable anglers to bring those big fish onboard without having to negotiate a dangerous path around the outboard engines. The starboard door should also reduce the degree of difficulty when boarding or egressing the boat at dockside. There’s also a dedicated space to install a Seakeeper 2 gyro stabilizer as an owner option. An extended console features a forward lounger which adds more comfortable seating in the bow area to complement the existing raised forward benches port and starboard. It also provides welcome insulated storage for fish, bait or ice down under and is positioned in close proximity to the existing in-floor fishbox.
Other updates include a redesigned transom livewell setup that benefits from the removal of the aforementioned transom door by centering the recirculating baitwell and scalloping out each transom corner, allowing anglers some added elbow room to get closer to the engines when dancing around the cockpit with a stubborn pelagic. The helm seating features updated designs and upholstery, including a new headrest. Yet another upgrade is that the bilge access hatch now opens aft instead of forward, with convenient handrails added to each side of the leaning post for improved crew safety. Add the 477-gallon fuel capacity and a 65 to 70 mph top speed and this is girl can travel fast and far like few others.
INVINCIBLE
Part two of the Warbird duet is Invincible with a newbie for the 2025 model year in the form of the 38 Catamaran. Succeeding last season’s 37 Cat, the new 38 packages all the amenities and equipment of a much larger boat into an efficient and powerful package, giving you the size, room and stability you need, along with the easy handling and top performance that is the Invincible trademark. This new feline offers improved running surfaces, an upgraded console, plus standard Zipwakes among other features.
The 38 Catamaran is truly a fully customizable, twin hull, twin stepped, long-range fishing machine that can be rigged with a variety of outboard power. When equipped with a quartet of Merc 400 V-10s, she’ll hit a top speed of 79.3 mph, cruising along at 48.3 mph while getting 1.02 miles per gallon on a round-trip of 600 miles with a 10% reserve from her 670-gallon fuel tank. The hull, like all of the other cats in the pack, was designed by the noted naval architects Morelli and Melvin and this latest iteration of their craft produces a softer and drier ride than her predecessor. The center console on the new 38 Catamaran offers more space down below, with a porthole window for natural light and ventilation, plus room to set up an optional A/C unit.
Notable standards include above and below deck livewells, AGM sealed batteries, a built-in anchor locker, forward under-deck storage, a finished bilge area, under gunwale and interior console lighting, raw water washdown, quad automatic 2,000-gallon per hour bilge pumps, waterproof switches and circuit breaker protected system, plus a 100% vinylester resin hull. A side door, dozens of rodholders, outriggers and more are on the custom features list.
TIDEWATER
For 2025, Tidewater’s new 282 CC Adventure replaces last season’s 280 CC model and offers a number of useful upgrades to appeal to families who like to bend a rod while also enjoying myriad back bay activities with family and friends. Based on the identical 28-foot, 4-inch by 9-foot, 8-inch beam running bottom as her predecessor, the topsides layout has been redesigned to be even more fishing and family friendly. Dual aft dive doors port and starboard open up a wealth of possibilities, from hauling big fish aboard, to dropping off or picking up the crew at the beach, to easy dockside entrances and exits.
When it’s time to go fish, dual under-sole insulated fishboxes and aquarium type 30-gallon livewells tucked into each transom corner will get the job done. A newly designed fiberglass hardtop is standard, along with a double-wide bench seat tucked in between the livewells folds out when it’s needed and disappears back into the transom bulkhead when it’s not. The redesigned console offers enough space to mount twin big screen MFDs, with a roomy head area down below. Seating was not an afterthought on the new 282 CC with twin fore-and-aft cushioned seats on either side of the standard leaning post, plus a double bench forward of the console and twin raised bench seats with cushioned seat backs in the bow. When you add it all up, that’s 10 dedicated seats for the crew.
Seakeeper Ride tabs are standard as are a freshwater sink and shower in the head. The Tidewater 282 CC Adventure’s 205-gallon fuel tank will let you fish all day and she’ll run great with a pair of 250s on her transom. If you need to travel in the fast lane, twin 300s are available as an option.
EDGEWATER
From the intel I received down in Fort Lauderdale, the folks at EdgeWater are going to replace their proven 245 CC with an all-new 250 CC model slated for its debut at the Miami Boat Show in February. The 245 CC was around for the better part of two decades and has been a proven performer and fish-catcher. It was equally adept at running well with either a single 250/300 or a pair of 150s/200s, so I’m really curious to see how the new 250 CC will improve on the original design.
The 285CC is the fullback of the EdgeWater fleet with a deep-vee running bottom that warps back to 20 degrees of deadrise at the transom. I have run this boat in unfriendly sea conditions and she is rock-steady and handles it like a champ. Running twin F300 Yamaha V-6s she will hit a top speed in excess of 53 mph, but what I like about her most is the ability to super-cruise at 3,500 to 4,000 rpms at relatively fuel efficient numbers between 30 to 36 mph, netting 1.5 to 1.65 mpg. Another neat feature on the 285CC is her under-console area with a porcelain marine head, freshwater sink with pull-out shower nozzle, plus a very convenient double berth that tucks under the forward cockpit sole; it’s a fantastic place to change out of wet clothes or for cat-napping between feeding frenzies.
The EdgeWater 285CC offers a dozen flush mount gunwale, vertical and transom mount rodholders, another six-pack in the T-top framework, a 28-gallon recirculating livewell in the port transom corner, twin 100-gallon insulated fishboxes with macerator pump-out in the cockpit sole, a 30-gallon freshwater system and a generous 200-gallon fuel tank that will take you to the edge and back in safety and comfort.
MAKO
The all-new Mako 18 Pro Skiff Backwater Edition is a new breed of skinny-water predator that’s loaded with unbeatable fishing features, quality, and value. With an emphasis on edge-to-edge stability and a feature set tailored for the flats, the 18 Pro Skiff Backwater is at home in inches of water, as well as inshore and nearshore fisheries.
The second generation Rapid Planing System hull design pops onto plane instantly, even in shallow water with a load. Each 18 Pro Skiff Backwater comes with a trailer that’s custom-fitted to its hull that features disc brakes, LED lights, and our legendary aluminum I-beam construction for a lifetime of smooth, hassle-free trailering. With 360-degree fishing, an aerated livewell, and your choice of the latest fishing electronics, the Mako 18 Pro Skiff Backwater is the perfect inshore package.
Mako has also introduced a limited edition “Silver Star” version of the 18 Pro Skiff for the 2025 model year. It sports a similar hull and accessory suite as the aforementioned Backwater flavor, but with a totally different patriotic color scheme. The Mako 18 Pro Skiff should not be confused with the Mako 18 LTS Skiff, which is a more petite boat with skinnier dimensions. Unlike her little sister, the Mako Pro Skiff can handle up to 175 HP on the transom, is heavier, along with sporting a wider beam. With Mako’s largest saltwater boat being the 214 CC for the 2025 model year, I was told by the factory personnel that they will be ramping up the production of their larger fishing boats at some point in the near future once they get the new factory production line up to speed.
BOSTON WHALER
Boston Whaler introduced the largest member of their dual console stable in Fort Lauderdale, the new 330 Vantage. Joining her little sisters the 210, 240 and 280, the 330 Vantage is the new flagship in this crossover fleet that’s equally adept at entertaining family and friends as she is running out the inlet and bending rods with a variety of inshore and near offshore species. “The 330 was designed for our consumers who enjoy a variety of activities on the water,” said Boston Whaler’s president Lenn Scholz, explaining how the 330 does it all, from fishing and watersports to cruising and entertaining. “We are thrilled to officially unveil the 330 here in Fort Lauderdale and complete the next evolution of our Vantage lineup with this incredible model,” Scholz added.
Built on Boston Whaler’s legacy of durability, safety and performance, the 330 offers many advantages, including versatility: The 330 dual-console layout provides ample enhanced seating and storage, a customizable cockpit area with fishing and entertaining amenities and the flexibility to transition from a full day on the water to a dinner outing. You’ll find great weather protection with optional full height glass or standard half glass windshield. Additionally, the 330 has a range of luxurious features, including plush seating, a spacious cockpit, and a well-appointed portside cabin with head. Optional amenities like a grill, refrigerator, and sunshades enhance the onboard experience.
Equipped with powerful standard V8 Mercury 300 horsepower engines or optional V10 Mercury 400 horsepower engines with or without joystick controls, the 330 delivers excellent performance and predictable handling. Seamlessly integrated Simrad technology provides precise navigation and enhanced onboard control, with optional electronics upgrades available to further customize the 330.
ROBALO
I talked with Robalo Sales Manager Joe Pegg in Fort Lauderdale where he mentioned that there are a trio of new models for 2025, specifically the R160 CC, the R257 DC and the R300 CC. The smallest of the bunch, the R160 is a reintroduction of this model with a new upper deck design. The R257 DC replaces last season’s R247 and the new R300 CC replaces the former R302 CC in the lineup.
The R300 is the perfect size to cover all your inshore and offshore sport fishing needs, and it’s an excellent platform for entertaining friends and family dockside. The hull measures 30.5 feet long with a 10.5-foot beam and her weight with twin 300 V6s is 9,000 pound. She sports a no-nonsense 21-degree aft deadrise with a running surface designed by noted naval architect Michael Peters, who has lofted a number of successful designs, including a fast attack boat for the US Navy. Her 280-gallon fuel tank will provide canyon range and there’s plenty of comfortable seating onboard for the trip out and back, even if the weather turns bumpy.
Key standards include a custom bonded electric folding front windshield and bonded side windshield glass, friction hinged fiberglass console door with lockable latch, twin 70-gallon aft insulated fish boxes with overboard drains and pumps, an electric transom seat that folds flush into the inner transom wall, a port cockpit side entry door, oversized T-top with skylight and freshwater system with overhead shower in hardtop. With a total of 22 rodholders, you’ll also find twin 25-gallon bow insulated fishboxes with overboard drains, two 28-gallon insulated livewells with dedicated pumps, LED lighting, blue interior, adjustable flow valves and clear plexiglass lids, plus triple forward facing helm seats with flip-up bolsters and fold down arm rests.
REGULATOR MARINE
I had a chance to speak with Regulator president Joan Maxwell down at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show, along with Florida sales manager Alex Leva, who were both thrilled to tell me that their popular 25 CC was recently reintroduced for the 2025 model year. The first-gen 25 CC replaced their OG 26 Regulator roughly a decade ago, but was pulled from production in 2021 to allow their team to focus on the trio of new XO hybrid bay boats that hit the market in recent years. Now that the Edenton, NC factory has normalized its supply chain logistics, it’s the perfect time to respond to dealer and customer requests by bringing back the 25 in a new-and-improved format.
The reimagined Regulator 25 Center Console returns with most of her popular features, from the original design, along with several updates to retrench her position in the Regulator lineup. Some notable improvements include standard 250 horsepower Yamaha engines with digital controls, an optional electric trolling motor package, the latest helm technology, upgraded Gemlux 18-foot deluxe outriggers, a newly offered Garmin electronics package and an updated leaning post in addition to an optional tackle center.
With a length of 25 feet, 2 inches (LOA w/bracket and engines is 30 feet), a beam of 8 feet, 10 inches and a deep-vee running bottom that features a super-sharp 24-degrees of deadrise aft, this is a no-nonsense performance hull that can really dice through kinetic sea conditions. The standard 160-gallon fuel tank will take you a long way with a judicious hand on the electronic throttles when running her twin Yamaha F250s through the paces. This Carolina girl offers over 900 quarts of onboard insulated fishbox storage, so she’s ready when you are.
VALHALLA BOATWORKS
The news from Viking’s Valhalla Boatworks is that their V-28 Bay and V-29 Hybrid model prototypes are now in full production. Big boat features are apparent on the V-29 Hybrid with available Seakeeper 1, bow thruster, thru-stem claw anchor with windlass, Release helm chairs and an electric head with overboard discharge. These combine with bay boat features such as trolling motors, Power Poles and jack plates. The V-29 also features a 180-gallon fuel capacity, so range is maximized with dual Mercury V6 225 four-strokes, a pair of Mercury V8 300 Verados or twin Yamaha V6 F300s.
The V-29 will excel at her multi-function role due to its fish-focused layout that does not sacrifice seating and comfort. The aft flip-up bench seat, numerous helm seat options, console lounge and available forward bench seats can accommodate a bunch of folks when it’s time to play. The V-29 features a pair of 26-gallon livewells on the aft casting deck, an optional in-deck 40-gallon livewell aft of the helm seat, plus an optional helm seating module with 45-gallon livewell. The V-29 also includes two insulated in-deck fishboxes in the cockpit that pump overboard, plus twin mid-ship lockable storage boxes that will fit a total of ten rods (five per). Other standards include dual flush mounted 19-inch MFDs or a single 24-inch multi-function display from Garmin or Simrad, backlit labeled Bocatech switches, plus an overhead electronics pod to house a fusion stereo, VHF radio and additional accessories. Even bigger news out of this New Jersey facility coming in the fall is the new V-55 Sport Yacht which takes the proven performance of the V-55 center console hull and merges it with a contemporary cabin design to appeal to those seeking added weather protection, powered by four Mercury 600 horsepower outboards.

While still going strong today, they have cut back since the pandemic to a product line of seven models built on a trio of hull lengths, specifically the 26 Express and Sport (center console); the 23 Express, Sport and Dual Console; plus the 20 Express and Sport.
Although there are no new Pro-Lines for 2025, their popular 23 Sport model is a great option for the ’25 buyer. NAUTICSTAR
Reliable scuttlebutt from the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show indicates that there is a new 24-foot bay boat that’s going to be introduced by NauticStar in early 2025, the 244 Bay. Joining her five sisters in the NauticStar Bay Series fleet that range from 19 to 27 feet, the new 244 is the perfect size to give you a little more boat under your deck shoes, while still being relatively lightweight, easy to power, with plenty of room for the crew and a breeze to trailer when chasing fish up and down the coast. If this sounds like something on your list, stay tuned for more to come.
The 332 Offshore is NauticStar’s flagship introduced at the 2024 Miami Boat Show. She’s the queen of the fleet not only because of its overall size and heft, but also for its outstanding saltwater performance and tournament-ready fishability. With its 10.5-foot beam, the 332 Offshore offers a spacious, comfortable bow with new upholstery options and plush wrap-around seating.

MARITIME
Maritime Boats are based in New Hampshire and are built by Chislett’s Boating and Design. Their coastal fishing boat lineup includes five different styles of layouts from 14 to 25 feet in length. Maritime’s 14, 18 and 20-foot rolled edge Skiffs are simple, basic, uncomplicated boats with maximum interior space, self-bailing cockpits and hulls that are fuel efficient and easily propelled with low to moderate horsepower. They are built strong and “unsinkable”, are dry-running with a seaworthy ride.
The distinctive feature of the Defiant center console series is the wraparound non-skid deck that facilitates easy boarding, installation of flush mount rod holders, pop-up cleats and self-bailing cockpits. Models 21 feet and larger have a large step down area under the console that provides room for storage and an optional porta-pottie or marine head. The Patriot and Voyager Center Cabin models combine all the benefits of a center console with the convenience of a full cabin. You can walk and fish around the side decks of the cabin without tripping over elevated steps. Additional weather protection is provided by each of these models giving you the opportunity to cruise, play, or fish longer in comfort and security.
The 23 and 25 Challenger cabin models feature a composite laminated glass windshield for strength and good looks. These boats have large versatile cockpits ideal for cruising and comfortably accommodating friends and family. Both Challenger models feature excellent visibility from the well-designed pilot house, a large comfortable V-berth that easily accommodates two adults and has a variety of seating, galley and cockpit configurations to meet your needs.
PARKER OFFSHORE
Parker Offshore recently announced the launch of two new Special Edition models, the 21SE and 23SE, joining the original 18SE in the lineup. The new 21SE is designed for those who require seamless back bay and coastal fishability, performance and reliability in an easy-to-trailer package. This model offers a generous 8-1/2-half foot beam with a length of 21 feet, 2 inches. She is rated for 150 to 200 horsepower outboards and offers a 95-gallon fuel tank that will take her a long way on her coastal sport fishing missions. She offers enough seating for a day at the beach, making the 21SE an ideal choice for both serious anglers and family outings. Its manageable size doesn’t compromise on quality or capability, offering a stable and comfortable ride, even in bumpy conditions.
In contrast, the new 23SE takes everything that’s good about the 21SE and expands it into a larger frame, providing even more space and power. This model is perfect for those who seek a boat that can handle near offshore excursions while still being versatile enough for inshore adventures. With its expanded deck space, ample storage and powerful 200 to 250 horsepower engine options, the 23SE ensures that every trip is open to a world of adventure and possibilities. The 23SE offers the same beam as her smaller sister, but her running bottom tapers off to 14 degrees of deadrise aft and she’s fueled by a larger 109-gallon tank.
Both the 21SE and 23SE models feature hand-laid fiberglass hulls, stainless steel hardware and are engineered to provide years of reliable service, standing up to the toughest conditions while delivering proven performance.
EVERGLADES
I was introduced to the Everglades 375cc in Fort Lauderdale and I must say, she is a beauty! This debutant is the newest addition to the Everglades proven 5-series center console stables, which currently include six models from 28 to 45 feet, with the new 375cc slated to replace last season’s 365cc. This cutting-edge center console is engineered for performance, comfort and versatility. You’ll also find air conditioning in the cabin, head, helm and mezzanine seating areas, a redesigned second station, plus dual dive doors for easy access. The spacious cabin on this center console will appeal to overnight fans, providing cushioned seating that transforms into a twin sized berth, an enclosed head with macerator and shower wand, a solid surface countertop with sink and more.
Although comfort features abound and are almost too numerous to list, the fishing features on this Florida girl are all business with dual transom mounted 25-gallon circulating live wells; a 55-gallon forward insulated in-deck fish box with macerator pump and overboard discharge; dual insulated 30-gallon in-deck fish boxes with macerator pumps and overboard discharges under the aft cockpit sole; a 60-gallon insulated fish box with dividers in the transom cap; a total of 16 flush-mounted stainless steel rod holders that are both bedded and through bolted; an eight-rod rocket launcher in the hardtop; under gunwale storage racks with toe rails port and starboard; plus lockable rod and gaff storage. Popular engine combinations for this newbie will be either twin 300s or 350s. Her long list of standard features includes a 10-year hull warranty; closed cell positive foam flotation injected in the interior hull areas for added safety; a fiberglass hardtop overhead with twin radio boxes and much more.
SEA FOX
The first hybrid hull in the Sea Fox fleet, the new 282 LT is sure to shine in both skinny waters and offshore. The 282 Hybrid LT was designed with many variables in mind, allowing operators to easily transition from a fishing focused morning to a family friendly afternoon at the beach or sandbar, from high to low tide and from heavy to light tackle. This model offers many feature-rich standards and is purpose-designed to make for uninterrupted adventures from dawn to dusk, maximizing time spent on the water.
The hybrid running bottom will provide a smooth and stable ride for most inshore water conditions. She comes standard with two 23.5-gallon pressurized livewells in the stern corners, plus a 16-gallon livewell in the bow. The three-sided full glass enclosure under the standard fiberglass hardtop offers welcome protection from the elements. Dual swim platforms set in either transom corner make getting in and out of the vessel a breeze when it’s time to relax with family or friends at the closest sandbar or beachside hideaway. The JL Audio marine stereo totally rocks with two 10-inch subs, twin amps and six speakers that will turn your boat into a mini concert hall.
Some of the most notable options on the Sea Fox 282 LT include a Garmin Force Kraken electric trolling motor; a joystick with autopilot for effortless docking and user-friendly operation for all skill levels; dual jack plates that will allow owners to navigate any water conditions with the ability to customize the position of each motor; plus the 282 LT is the first Sea Fox model ever with an optional second station, which takes navigation and sight fishing visibility to the next level.

Other options include underwater lights; hardtop mounted rocket launchers; fresh and raw water washdowns; outrigger, Power-Pole and trolling motor options; plus a porta-pottie. I really like the aft cockpit design which combines a number of utilities in one efficient space, including quad fold-down bench seating, a rooming casting deck, access to the twin livewells situated under the transom corner jump seats, plus generous access to the bilge for maintenance on critical wiring and plumbing systems.
When it comes to being the first one to the fishing grounds, the Scout 261 XXS will lead from the front of the pack. CAYMAS BOATS
Earl Bentz has been a “name brand” in the boating industry for the better part of five decades. Back in 2018, Earl started Caymas Boats and his saltwater lineup of hybrid boats just got a new flagship, the 291 that was introduced in Fort Lauderdale. Every Caymas Saltwater hull is designed with Michael Peters’ patented Stepped-Vee Ventilated Tunnel Hull (SVVT) which increases speed and fuel economy by reducing water drag, while providing a softer and drier ride. According to Caymas engineering data, the SVVT Hull provides a 15% increase in speed compared to conventional “V” hull construction.
Crafted with the hardcore angler in mind, the 291 delivers exceptional stability and handling in offshore conditions. Its innovative design features an open bow and higher freeboard, ensuring you can navigate the toughest waters with confidence. While the 291 excels in performance, it also embraces the needs of the entire family. With spacious seating and thoughtful amenities, it’s perfect for everything from an afternoon of fishing to an elegant evening dinner cruise. With a length of 28.5 feet supported by an over-wide 9-1/2-foot beam for stability, the aggressive 18.5-degree aft deadrise angle will provide a smoother ride in choppy waters compared to some competitive hybrid boats in her class.
She can take twin outboards up to 600 total horsepower on the transom, w fueled by a generous 200-gallon tank, so she’ll run both far and fast in between fill-ups. Her modest 18-inch draft (engines up) is perfect for shallow areas and her impressive dry weight of 4,500 pounds (without engines) will stand up to choppy seas without sacrificing performance. Standard fishing features include a 328-quart forward fish box, 250-quart chaise lounge storage, two 100-quart in-floor cockpit fish boxes, plus a 35-gallon livewell.
SAILFISH

The head area can be accessed conveniently from the front of the console, and comes complete with a standard portable head (pump-out optional).
When it’s time to hit the beach or local sandbar, a transom Baja beach cooler offers easy access to refreshments from in the water. Additional features including standard 65-quart Engel hard side carry-on cooler with slide out tray beneath the leaning post provide ample chilled storage for all of your trip’s drinks, food and snacks. When it’s time to fish, there are a total of 22 standard rodholders onboard located in all the right places like in the gunwales, under the coaming boards, on each side of the console, in the transom cap, and aft of the forward seating.
Equipped with a 108-gallon fuel tank, she’ll go a long way between fill-ups and prospective owners can have their choice of Mercury, Yamaha or Suzuki outboard power. According to factory tests, top speeds with outboards in the 250 to 300 horsepower range will vary between 49 to 53.5 mph depending on the brand, engine size and prop pitch. I was onboard the 232 CC at the Fort Lauderdale boat show and she has a lot to offer for a reasonable price point.
SOUTHPORT
Southport’s latest new flagship model, the 38FE, was introduced mid-season in 2024 with an length listed as 37 feet, 6 inches, with an overwide 13-foot beam. Her hull features a sharp deep-vee angle in the bow that tapers back to 20-degrees of deadrise at the transom. Her dry weight outfitted with a pair of Yamaha F450 XTO V8 outboards is 18,000 pounds, with a draft of 25 inches (engine drives up). The Southport 38FE’s 425-gallon fuel capacity should give you true 100-fathom range, but that really depends on your power choice and throttle hand.
Optional power on this Maine-built sportfisher covers the gamut from triple Yamaha F450s, a trio of Mercury 400-hp V10 Verados, or a pair of Merc’s 600-hp Verado V12 outboards. The max rating of 1,350 horsepower is achieved by the triple Yamaha F450 XTO set-up and she’ll hit a top speed of 60 mph so equipped, with optimum fuel economy at 3,500 rpms, where she’ll hit 32 mph burning 34.5 gph, for a net of 0.93 mpg.

This Trophy’s side console layout is a first-of-its-kind within the Bayliner lineup offering consumers a multi-purpose boat with versatility for fishing or cruising to your favorite beachside hideaway.
The Trophy T22SC offers a spacious layout with fore and aft casting decks with ample dry storage, plus a swing-out window and walkway on the port side that allows the crew to move forward to access the comfy console bench and wraparound bow seating complete with backrests. This neophyte is based on the proven 22-foot, 7-inch by 8-1/2-foot beam, and 18-degree aft deadrise hull that’s shared by her T22CC sister, but the Side Console variant offers a larger fuel tank (80 gallons vs. 65 gallons for the CC) for increased range. CENTURY BOATS
Arriving in 2024, the Century 4100CC features a hybrid hull design that offers an engineered balance between a traditional “Vee” hull and a stepped hull design, with a unique strake geometry, a dynamic keel pad and a multifaceted transom. The running bottom has been designed to minimize bow rise while reducing drag and increasing lift. To make this engineering feat possible, high performance materials are used throughout the manufacturing process. An exclusive carbon fiber/Kevlar hybrid fabric was developed for the hull of to provide extra stiffness while reducing overall weight. All composites are vacuum infused for optimum glass/resin ratio.
Twin transom doors open to an oversized swim platform providing complete 360 degrees of fishability. Engine rigging is hidden below the platform for safe, unobstructed maneuverability. A semi-enclosed console area provides climate controlled isolation from the elements while still being open to the rest of the deck space onboard and you can seat a total of 14 adults on this boat. Convenient zip-up canvas converts the console space into a fully enclosed, weather-protected pilot house. Twin berths below deck comfortably sleep three to four adults, while a second row lounger in the console area converts to sleep a fifth crew member above deck in the air conditioned space. A pair of 50-gallon (forward) and 100-gallon (aft) in-floor insulated fishboxes will chill the catch of the day, plus there’s a 70-gallon pressurized livewell in the transom cap.
The 4100CC measures 41 feet LOA, supported by a 12-foot, 4-inch beam and deep-vee running bottom that tapers back to 23.5 degrees at the transom. The 535-gallon fuel tank should provide adequate offshore range, depending on how you power her and how you ride the throttles when underway. MAYCRAFT
Following up on last season’s release of the 238 CC, MayCraft has introduced a new queen to their growing center console fleet with the introduction of the 245 Offshore CC. Capable of handling single or twin outboards up to 300 horsepower on her transom, this new center console is designed to handle big water. The MayCraft design team combined every single thing they’ve learned in the past 30 years of North Carolina based coastal boatbuilding into this new 24-footer, engineered with perfect balance whether at rest or up on plane.
Based on a hull that measures 24 feet, 2 inches in length with an 8-foot, 5-inch beam, the 245 Offshore’s deep-vee running bottom tips the scales at a solid 4,500 pounds and her generous 140-gallon fuel tank will take you and the crew a long way to distant waters and back. This Florida-based boat builder offers a fleet of coastal family friendly fishing boats that range in size from 19 to 30 feet in length. While most are center consoles, there is also a 23 dual console and a 26 Panga in the mix. But the queen of the fleet is a two-headed sportfisher that is available in alternate layouts – the 301 RX – a no-nonsense, 30-foot center console with a single level fore and aft cockpit sole that is meant to be the ultimate pelagic hunter when heading offshore.
Her sister ship that shares the identical running bottom, the 301 RXS, has a softer side with cushioned raised forward seating in the bow area and more gentle accommodations. She not only offers family and friends a great time when bending rods, but also is equally adept when watersports, a quiet day at the beach, or hanging out at the local sandbar are on the menu. No matter which layout piques your interest, the basic hull measures 30 feet, 1 inch in length, with a 9-1/2-foot beam, riding on a deep-vee running bottom that tapers back to 22.5 degrees aft. The basic hull weight is 8,000 pounds and she will run fast and far with her recommended power of twin 300s on her transom. The 220-gallon fuel tank should enable northeast anglers to reach the 100-fathom line and back, especially with a judicious hand on the throttles.
Some notable standards shared by both of these deck layouts include Dual Simrad NSS EVO3 12-inch MFD displays; 1kW 50/200kHz transducer; Simrad Broadband 4G radar (requires optional hardtop); Simrad RS20 DSC VHF radio and antenna with S/S ratchet mount; a three-bank battery charger; Fusion RA70 Bluetooth stereo with quad speakers; a walk-in head compartment with electric toilet/holding tank, vanity with mirror and sink with faucet and freshwater shower and more.
SEA BORN
Sea Born boats is a division of Composite Research Incorporated located in Blackshear, GA. Introduced a few seasons back, the LX26 Center Console is the largest of four vessels in the company’s LX series. According to Sea Born engineers, every boat in the LX lineup successfully merges family-centric features with let’s-go-fishing readiness.
Standard features on the LX26 include an easy-boarding port-side dive door, multiple charging ports, in-console head, LED lighting throughout, along with convenient passenger grab rails for improved safety. From the helm, the pilot and co-pilot will appreciate the two-position leaning post when standing, but as the need arises, the unit easily converts to a captain’s style chair with backrest. On the console, there’s an endless array of information via two glass-mounted, multi-function displays. Other notable standards include on-console toggle switches, a phone-saving dash pad and a large shade-providing hardtop with overhead storage.
When it’s time to bend the rods, the LX26 provides additional cockpit depth compared to Sea Born’s quartet of bay boats, giving it big-boat energy and allowing owners to run near shore or offshore in bumpy seas in complete comfort and safety. At the bow, there’s an anchor pulpit and chain, ideal for keeping the boat steady over a wreck or reef. As with any fishing boat, storage is at a premium and the LX26 delivers with ample gear and tackle bins, under-and-in-gunwale rod holders and a rounded port-side aerated baitwell.
SEA HUNT
This South Carolina based boat builder started in 1995 and has evolved to become one of the largest center console boat builders in the U.S. market, and every season I see more and more Sea Hunt center consoles working the near offshore and bluewater fishing grounds. I spoke with Sea Hunt Sales Manager Robbie Coates at the Fort Lauderdale Show back in October going over the details of their new 28 Gamefish launched earlier in the year at the Miami Boat Show. As Coates described, the Gamefish lineup now consists of seven models, including the 30-footer with either raised forward seating or a large coffin box layout; the newly introduced 28 with either a single-level deck coffin box layout or forward seating model; twin 27-foot platforms (forward seating or coffin box arrangement) and a 25-footer. All offer deep-vee running bottoms that carry 21 degrees of deadrise angle aft to the transom.
Standard features on the recently introduced 28 Gamefish CB (coffin box) include twin Yamaha F300s; Yamaha electric steering and tilt helm; dual 16-inch Garmin GPSMAP 8616xsv Package with VHF radio; Yamaha CL5 Touchscreen Display; Yamaha Auto Pilot; a mezzanine-type fiberglass leaning post with twin captain’s chairs; JL Audio Waterproof Stereo with Bluetooth; wireless phone charger; dual battery switch; underwater LED lights; bow and cockpit bolsters; fiberglass T-Top with mister system and powder coat package; starboard side entry door; Bennett trim tabs with LED indicators; China bowl toilet; anchor windlass; fold down rear bench seat and more.
The 28 Gamefish’s fuel capacity is 180 gallons and she’s rated to carry twin 300s on the transom. There’s plenty of insulated fishbox capacity with a 320-quart coffin box, and twin under-sole fishboxes under the aft cockpit sole at 200 quarts each. The 40-gallon mezzanine livewell is complemented by a 16-gallon transom livewell and a 15-gallon pitch bait livewell.
SOLACE
I spoke with Solace CEO Stephan Dougherty in Fort Lauderdale where I was able to get a personal tour of their new hybrid sportfisher, the 28HCS. The Solace fleet now includes a total of six boats from 28 to 41 feet and each is its own unique functional composition that stands out among its competitive peers. The 28HCS hybrid center console features a design that checks all the boxes for inshore and nearshore family fishing adventures with offshore capabilities and creature comforts. Solace incorporates a unique twin ventilated step hull design resulting in superb boat handling, speed and efficiency. Whether you plan to head offshore, work the back bays, tow the kids on water toys, or head to your favorite sandbar to raft up the new 28HCS does it in style, making its own singular fashion statement in the process.
Notable standards on the Solace 28HCS include a tackle storage center set in the forward wall of the center console that holds up to eight tackle trays, along with convenient lure holders; two 30-gallon in-floor fish boxes port and starboard; lifejacket storage in the liner inwale spaces; a 30-gallon recirculating livewell; 73 inches of standing headroom in the console’s cabin area; a convertible transom that transforms from quad seating to a casting platform while concealing two 50-quart removable coolers down under; plus an electronically operated, fully opening tempered glass windshield with wiper and washer that’s integrated with the fiberglass hardtop.
The overall length of the new 28HSC is 29-1/2 feet with a 9-foot, 10-inch beam, tipping the scales at 6,950 pounds dry with her twin outboard engines. She features a 45-degree entry angle at the bow that tapers back to 18 degrees at the transom, so this Florida girl can handle choppy seas with a minimum of fuss and go a long way with her 205-gallon tank.
WELLCRAFT
Representing a groundbreaking wave of innovation, the new 3-Series generation of center consoles has a sleek new look with Wellcraft’s unmistakable signature style line embedded into the hull. Wellcraft’s Fisherman 3-Series models currently include the 223, 243 and 263 center consoles. All three now feature a fully-bonded glass windshield with a power operated vent, which provides enhanced visibility and protection while facing the saltwater elements along with welcome air flow to the helm area.
The support legs of the fiberglass T-top are recessed into the center console creating more space for maneuvering around the boat and the cabin is now accessible with a lateral opening door set in the forward section of the console. The helm station has been reworked to incorporate additional screen space and advanced technology. The hardtop features an integrated accessories box for easy access to electronic devices. The rest of the console is designed to provide unobstructed views of the surrounding waters. Dual upholstered helm seats with adjustable bolsters now feature a dedicated “Cooler Cave” where you can conveniently store a cooler with an additional storage area perfect for keeping tools and tackle within easy reach.
Forward-facing backrests are now included as part of the bow seating package, enhancing comfort for passengers, and the transom seat has been reworked for easier access to the bilge. Also, a comfortable aft bench stows away quickly into the transom wall to free-up precious aft cockpit space when it’s time to go fishing. The T-top of the new center console series has been completely transformed and is a critical centerpiece of the new design. A redesigned upturned edge provides a solid grip while moving around the vessel and dedicated drain cut-outs channel water to the right place. Anglers can equip the T-top with optional rocket launchers and Kingfish rod holders for versatile fishability.
SPORTSMAN
The factory reps at the Sportsman booth in Fort Lauderdale unveiled two new models for 2025, the Open 212 CC and the Masters 227 Bay. Focusing on the Open 212, this center console is chock full of just about everything you will ever need for a full day on the water as standard equipment. She’s a roomy 21-footer, measuring 21 feet, 5 inches in length with an 8-1/2-foot beam. Her vee-shaped running bottom tapers back to a modest 18 degrees at the transom and her single outboard (up to 250 horsepower) is fueled by a 70-gallon tank. Her approximate dry weight is 3,618 pounds and she’s rated to carry up to 10 passengers.
One thing you’ll notice immediately when jumping aboard is the standard over-sized hard-top. The four-legged frame swoops seamlessly from the console up to the top and the design gives it enhanced structural stability. The D-Tubing structure is not cut and welded, but is bent and extruded out of a single piece of D-Tubing. When the sun goes down, molded in navigation lights can be found at the front corners of the hard-top. This location keeps them out of the way and completely unobstructed. The spreader lights on the hard-top provide deck work lights for early morning or late-night trips.
Fishing and comfort features abound on the Sportsman Open 212, but this girl can go fish with a total of seven rodholders in the overhead rocket launcher, a quartet of high-quality Gemlux rod holders flush mounted in the gunwales, horizontal rod racks underneath on either side, plus an additional quartet of vertical rodholders set aft of the leaning post. Complement this setup with a 25-gallon aquarium-type livewell tucked in the starboard transom corner and you are in business. Dozens of other standards makes this one of the hottest new 21-footers on the market.
TWIN VEE
Twin Vee has reimagined their catamaran fishing fleet with a quartet of next-gen introductions in the 260 GFX2 CC, 280 GFX2 CC, 280 GFX2 DC and the flagship 400 FGX2 CC. Having nearly 10,000 boats on the water, from 24 to 40 feet, Twin Vee recognized that over 27 years, many boaters viewed the Fort Pierce, FL-based builder as producing a reliable, smooth riding, utilitarian fishing cat. A few years ago under the leadership of CEO Joseph Visconti, the development team created the 400 GFX flagship model that raised the brand’s bar, look and aspirations, all of which were introduced for the 2025 model year.
All Twin Vee molds are now created using 5-Axis CNC router technology, giving precision to what were formerly, hand-built plugs and molds. All models are vacuum-infused, using precise amounts of composite material along with fiberglass in the hulls and bulkheads. The result is a monolithic hull construction, ensuring the highest strength, correct weight balance, and quality with consistency from boat to boat. The entire console of each new GFX2 model was re-designed as a “Command Center” to incorporate the newest technologies, including a large 24-inch multifunction display, integration with a phone app and digital switching (with redundant button control) that incorporates simplified control of boat systems including control pumps, sound system, lighting (also underwater and navigation lights) and a line of options like FLIR thermal vision, camera, a fishfinding transducer pack (down and side sonars), advanced autonomous navigation and Rhodan HD GPS Anchor+ trolling motor.
The helm station is protected by a tempered glass windshield, a redesigned, lighter-weight T-top with LED lights, supported by D-shaped aluminum supports (with a powder coat option), integrated into the console for a graceful, aerodynamic look with no pipes to avoid tripping. I jumped aboard a few of these new GFX2 models in Fort Lauderdale and they are the real deal.
Aquasport
One of the most interesting developments down at the recent Ft Lauderdale boat show was the reintroduction of one of America’s most famous fishing boat brands…Aquasport. Beloved Fisherman editor Fred Golofaro ran an original gen-1 191 Aquasport center console as a charter boat captain back in the early 70s. My first boat ever, a next-gen (compared to Capt Fred’s) 1979 model 196 CC Aquasport, was purchased at the 1980 NY Boat Show and really got me into inshore and near offshore fishing in a big way in my formative years. Aquasport was still a force in coastal fishing boats through the 1990s and into the 2000s, but eventually was bought and sold a few times, mismanaged and lost its way, relegated to the historical scrap heap. Fast forward to the fall of 2024 when proven catamaran boat builder Twin Vee purchased the iconic brand, with its engineering team entirely reimagining this fan favorite with superior technology, precision engineering, premium craftsmanship and some revolutionary new design features. It makes strategic sense for the 27-year old Twin Vee company to diversify with monohulls to some extent and they certainly got my attention with this second coming of a “name brand”, so let’s take a closer look at what’s happening for the 2025 model year.
The initial wave of next-gen, high-end Aquasports consists of four models, specifically a 22 CC, 22 DC, 24 CC and an impressive 28 CC. All feature lighter, stronger, fortified vacuum-infused hulls and stringer systems to enhance each boat’s performance and fuel efficiency without sacrificing integrity or overall strength. Yet another group of Aquasports are dubbed the “Legacy Models” and that sisterhood consists of a 2100 CC, 2300 CC, 2500 CC and a 230 Pro Bay. Both fleets, the new wave and the legacy boats, offer some great features and I’m looking forward to taking a few out on the water for some test runs, so stay tuned for more.
