Team “Gypsea” Walks Away With $546k At The Tri-State Canyon Shootout!

The 2023 Tri-State Canyon Shootout hosted by J&B Tackle, Block Island Marinas, 1661 Inn and title sponsor, Whitewater Marine Center in conjunction with Invincible and Yellowfin boats was a huge success in 2023. This year 90 boats competed in the Tri-State Canyon Shootout for almost a $1.2 million dollar purse. The Tournament purse was divided among 16 winners. Two payouts were in excess of $150k not including Gypsea’s massive check.

Viking Yachts represented well again this season with seven Viking owners ‘in the money’. Team OUT THERE running a 42 Invincible, landed the second place yellowfin for $26k, while the first place yellowfin went to another center console. Blue Collar Fishing Team took home $171k running their 37 Freeman. They also had one of the tournament’s junior anglers, Evan Shepard, on board for his first tournament win. Steve DeMarco’s team Freedom carried by lady angler Alex Marcarelli ended in second place for the largest albacore, 2nd Place TriFish and tied for 4th Place Points.

While the fish and the payouts were impressive, the show stopper was definitely the weather. The 2023 Tri-State had four fishable days with three of the four being exceptional. Crews and their families not only enjoyed the tournament on the water but off the water as well! A great time was had by all who enjoyed Block Island!
