For decades, The Fisherman has provided the perfect paper trail for anyone trying to outsmart a striped bass, track down a tuna or find a fluke honey hole between Delaware and New England. But as it turns out, the only thing editors Dave Anderson, Matt Broderick, and Jim Hutchinson like more than catching fish is talking about catching fish.
To spare their friends, family and spouses from further fishing chatter, the trio has officially launched a new weekly podcast, offering a rounder view of the fishing scene every Tuesday. The concept is simple: take three guys who live and breathe regional fishing and put them in a room – or the digital approximation of one – and record the result.
While the magazine’s three regional editions have always provided hyper-local intel, this podcast aims to “zoom out” in real-time, providing listeners and weekly edition readers to see how the arrival of giant stripers in Raritan Bay starts the clock for their invasion of Montauk, Narragansett Bay or the Canal; or how weather, migrations and lunar factors change the game, week after week.
Listeners can expect a conversation that feels more like eavesdropping at a bait shop than it does listening to a formal radio program. Every Tuesday, Dave, Matt, and Jim break down the latest weekly editions of The Fisherman, share their personal “in the moment” insights, and offer deep dives on what’s biting and what methods are going to get you tight.
New episodes drop every Tuesday; listen in as the guys discuss everything from evolving fisheries to the gear they’re currently obsessed with and so much more. To catch the latest episode, head over to TheFisherman.com or look us up on YouTube. Just don’t be surprised if you find yourself concocting excuses to leave work early to hit the water.
