The Fisherman Seminars At Edison, Oaks, & Brookdale Too! - The Fisherman

The Fisherman Seminars At Edison, Oaks, & Brookdale Too!

For some folks being in two places at the same time is impossible; for staffers from The Fisherman Magazine, we’ve got you covered three times!

For starters, the New Jersey Boat Sale & Expo kicks off on February 16 at the New Jersey Convention & Expo Center in Edison, running through Sunday, February 19.  Seminars presented by The Fisherman begin on day one with Jim Hutchinson, Jr. at 2 p.m. (Fishing For Stripers), followed by Saltwater Underground’s Nick Honachefsky at 3:30 p.m. (Jersey Exotics) and Aaron Held from Octopus Yachts at 5 p.m. (Trolling Motors – Layout & Installation).  Friday at 2 p.m. Held returns to talk trolling motors, followed by Peter Clarke with the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife (NJ Artificial Reefs & Sportfishing Fund) at 3:30 p.m., and Matt Sorrentino of NJFishingClub.com (Tautog Master Class) at 5 p.m.

The “Super Saturday” February 18 lineup kicks off at 11 a.m. with Capt. Kevin Fahey of Curlew Charters (Fluke, Sea Bass, Stripers & Lobster) and runs almost every hour through 5 p.m. with Capt. Anthony Grassi of Fin Chasers Charters (Light Tackle Striper Strategies), Joe & Gerry Zagorski from NJFishing.com (Blackfish Strategy & Tactics), Capt. Scott Newhall of Time Out Charters (Fishing For Fluke) and Capt. Mike Century from Anglers Of Legends Sportfish & Boatworks (Bluefin Tuna).  On Sunday the 19th, it’s captains Rob Crocitto & Capt. Guy Buono from Bunker Box & Krunch Sportfishing (NY & NJ Fishing Raritan Bay) at 11 a.m., followed by Capt. Robert Henn of Ebbtide Fishing Charters at noon (Jersey Shore Stripers) and Capt. Dan Bias from Reelmusic Sportfishing (Pro Tips for Doormats) at 1 p.m.

The New Jersey Convention & Exposition Center at Raritan Center is located at 97 Sunfield Avenue in Edison.  Show hours are Thursday and Friday from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Adult admission is $15, with kids 16 and younger admitted free (when accompanied by an adult).  Discount tickets can be purchased online at JerseyBoatExpo.com.

The Fisherman Magazine is also presenting the entire weekend seminar lineup once again at the Philadelphia Fishing Show opening on Friday, February 17 at noon and running through Sunday, February 19 at 5 p.m. at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center in Oaks, PA.

A total of 46 different seminars and workshops were presented by The Fisherman at last year’s Philly Fishing Show covering a wide variety of fresh and saltwater topics running three consecutive days.  With so many seminars packed into three days, there isn’t enough space on this page to list them all, but expect top captains like Fred Gamboa (Andrea’s Toy), Eric Kerber (On a Mission Charters), Erwin Heinrich (Scales and Tails), Mike Rothman (Bonanza II), Tom Daffin (Fishin’ Fever), Allen Lee (Mushin Sportfishing) and Vinny Calabro (Karen Ann Charters) to name a few.

Other notable experts expected to give talks in one of the three Oaks, PA seminar rooms include Nick Honachefsky, Frank Mihalic, George Bucci, Khoa Duy Nguyen, Anthony “Maja” Arcabascio, George “The Pocono Outdoors Guy” and more.

Philadelphia Fishing Show admission is $12 for adults, kids ages 6 to 12 are $6, and kids 5 and under are as free as the parking.   The show is open Friday from noon to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.  Look for The Fisherman’s booth as soon as you walk through the front door of the show. The Greater Philadelphia Expo Center is located at 100 Station Avenue in Oaks, PA.  For show information call 732-330-5674 or visit PhillyFishingShow.com for the complete seminar lineup and a list of exhibitors.

Finally, while not the presenting sponsor of the seminars, don’t miss The Fisherman’s resident surfcasting editor Matt Broderick as he plugs his way to the front of the seminar stage on February 18 at Surf Day, presented by the Jersey Shore Surfcasters at Brookdale Community College at 765 Newman Springs Road in Lincroft, NJ.  Other speakers include John Skinner, George Bucci, Bill Wetzel, Bill Sistad and more.  Doors open at 8:30 a.m. with a $10 admission price (discounted for veterans).
