The North Atlantic Monster Shark Tournament Returns!

After a losing last year’s even to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Boston Big Game Fishing Club invites you to join us this summer, as we celebrate the return of the Monster Shark Tournament, coming this July 22nd through 25th. Become part of the MST fleet and experience what sets this iconic fishing extravaganza apart from other offshore tournaments. Don’t take the bait of fishing amateur events, when you can challenge some of the best big game anglers in the business, while competing to claim some serious cash and prizes.

In 2019, MST participants collected over $60,000.00 in cash and prizes, including a Lund boat prize package (with motor & trailer), courtesy of our friends at Atlantic Boats of Wareham. Register now for the 2021 MST, and find out how the MST is committed to “Make Fishing Great Again”. The entry fee for the 2021 Monster Shark Tournament is $1099.00.

The Monster Shark Tournament is a not for profit event dedicated to promoting, the science and education required to maintain the balance and perpetual sustainability of our marine fisheries, as well as, protecting fishermen against any further infringements of our rights to fish. Proceeds from our past events have been donated to many organizations including The Steve James Memorial Scholarship Fund, Dr. Greg Skomal, and the Massachusetts Shark Research Program, The Stellwagen Bank Charter Boat Association, The School for Marine Science & Technology, The Recreation Fishing Alliance and The Fishing Partnership.

The event will begin with a captain’s meeting on July 22nd at 4 p.m. which will be held at Off The Hook Bar & Grill at West Island Marina. Your crew can register for the tournament at the meeting, and can also enter the Calcutta added entry division categories for even bigger cash payouts. The tournament rules will be discussed at the meeting and Capt’s Buckets will be given out. Fishing Begins at 6 a.m. on Friday July 23, no lines, bait or chum may be in the water before this time. There is no “lines out” time for Friday. The Weigh Station will be located at West Island Marina, in Fairhaven, MA, and will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday afternoon. The public is encouraged to attend the family friendly atmosphere of the weigh-ins, so bring the kiddos down for an unforgettable and educational afternoon learning about these amazing pelagic species. Fishing concludes at 2 p.m. on Saturday afternoon with the weigh station open from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. with the awards banquet kicking off at 6:30.

The banquet will be held under a large tent at the West Island Marina and the 2021 MST champion will be crowned, and other annual prizes will be awarded. This year’s raffles will be amazing as always, with tables overflowing with fantastic gear and other impressive loot. Meanwhile the band Whiskey Affair will rock the night once again, as the MST gets our groove on Saturday night. For those that do not wish to fish but still want to join the party, additional banquet tickets can be purchased for $75.00 each at the Captain’s Meeting or at  http://sharksfundfishing.com/. The event will conclude with the MST Farewell Bloody Mary / Spiked Coffee Party beginning at 10 a.m. We’re looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces at this year’s event, registration is open now.
