Looking to fish competitively this weekend, by beach or by boat? As the striper run begins heating up along the Jersey Shore, there are several tournament options to consider for the upcoming weekend.
By boat, the first annual Twin Lights Cup Striper Tournament will be run out of Bahr’s Landing supporting the Monmouth County Mental Health Association on Friday, October 11. Previously planned back in May, the Twin Lights Cup was postponed due to weather and will kick off this Thursday, October 10th with a 7 p.m. captains meeting held via webinar hybrid or in-person at 731 River Road, in Fair Haven. Also kicking off on Friday the 11th is the two-day Barrier Island Beach Brawl, the 6th annual “surfcasters only” event presented by Nick Honachefsky of the Saltwater Underground. Based out of Playa Bowls and Crabs Claw Inn in Lavallette, the Barrier Island Beach Brawl runs from Point Pleasant to Island Beach State Park is just $45 to enter. On Saturday, October 12, the 7th Annual Merchantville Fishing Club Surf Fishing Tournament will be held on Long Beach Island.
