Women’s Fishing Workshop At Hackettstown Hatchery

Know a certain someone looking to get into recreational fishing?  The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and its Division of Fish & Wildlife is running a women’s fishing workshop on Sunday, October 6 for ladies 18 and older interested in learning how to fish.

These First Catch Center Workshops are introductory and will cover fish biology; how to set up equipment; safety practices; bait and tackle choices; how to cast; and fishing regulations. Participants will put their new skills to practice with a fishing experience and leave the workshop with the knowledge and confidence to head out fishing on their own. All bait, tackle and equipment will be provided, however participants will need to purchase a 2024 NJ Fishing License.

The workshop will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. this Sunday, October 6 at Hackettstown State Fish Hatchery, 23 Reese Avenue in Hackettstown.  However, space is limited to 20 anglers and the deadline for registration is October 1 (or whenever the workshop limit is reached). Click here to register, or for addition questions contact Karen or Alanna at njfishingr3@dep.nj.gov.
