The Delaware River will be the location of the first major professional fishing tournament in the south Jersey area this week. The Bassmaster Elite Series will be held August 7-10, 2014.
Being able to host such a major tournament is recognition of how water quality on the Delaware River has dramatically increased in recent years, as has the largemouth and smallmouth bass populations. The top 108 anglers in the country will compete on nearly 100 miles of the tidal Delaware River stretching through Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.
