CAPT MIKE PIERDINOCK HITS THE RADIO

On Sunday October 2, 2016, between 11 am and 12 noon, Capt Mike Pierdinock will be filling in for Capt Lou and hosting Capt Lou’s Nautical Talk radio on 95.9 FM WATD in Marshfield, MA. You can live stream the show at 959watd.com. There will be a full hour of fishery management issues and controversy open for discussion that includes the following guest speakers:

  • William Goldsmith, PhD student at the Virginia Institute of Marine Science, to discuss their recent light tackle bluefin tuna release mortality and tagging research conducted in our waters as well as bluefin tuna fishing economic research for the U.S. east coast.
  • David Schalit, V.P. of the American Bluefin Tuna Association and commercial fisherman from New York to talk about the area referred to as the "Slope" that has been identified as bluefin tuna spawning ground and the continued controversy brewing over the conclusions of the study.
  • Robert “Fly” Navarro as seen on TV on the Anglers Journal and World Class Sportsfishing, who is a world renown angler calling us from a remote location on the water via satellite phone to talk about his upcoming blue marlin tournament in Florida as well as an upcoming one day blue marlin world cup competition.

Capt Mike Pierdinock has been a charter boat captain on the vessel Perseverance for over 15 years and fishes north and south of Cape Cod for ground fish, striped bass and large pelagics. He actively participates in fishery management issues and serves as the Massachusetts Chairman of the Recreational Fishing Alliance and is on the Board of Directors of the Stellwagen Bank Charter Boat Association. He presently serves on the Massachusetts Marine Fisheries Commission; National Marine Fishery Service, Atlantic Highly Migratory Species Advisory Panel; and the New England Fishery Management Council, Recreational Advisory Panel. He can be heard Sundays on FM 95.9 WATD on Capt Lou’s Nautical Talk Radio show discussing fishery management issues that impact recreational anglers and charter boat captains.
