COMB’S DUKE OF FLUKE TOURNAMENT - The Fisherman

COMB’S DUKE OF FLUKE TOURNAMENT

There is still time to enter the 24th Annual Comb’s Bait & Tackle Duke of Fluke Tournament slated for this Sunday, June 24th. Just stop in at Comb’s Bait & Tackle on Montauk Highway in Amityville by 7 p.m. on Friday and register in-person at the shop. The tournament is based out of Amityville Beach at the foot of South Bayview Avenue in Amityville. All weigh-ins, awards and a barbecue will take place at the beach.

The adult entry fee is $35 per person, and there is an optional Calcutta of $25 per boat. Everyone on the boat must be registered in the tournament. There is also an optional Crazy Fours add-on at $10 per angler. That’s a cash prize that goes to the angler who comes closest to catching a 4-pound fluke. Cash prizes go to the five largest fluke, and tackle and equipment prizes for 6th through 23 place. The 24th place finisher earns a $200 gift certificate to Comb’s Bait & Tackle.

There is also a junior division for kids 12 and under. The entry fee is $15 and each child entering receives a free t-shirt. Junior division winners receive trophies for first, second and third place.

At weigh-in on Sunday afternoon, there will be free hot dogs and hamburgers, as well as a live DJ. Fishing kicks off at 6 a.m. on Sunday morning. Some quality fluke are still being caught in the bays, and a good ocean bite has also developed, giving participants the option of fishing inside or out in the ocean. All signs point to good fishing and a good time at the weigh-in. For more information call Bill at 631-264-3525. This is a rain-or-shine event there is no rain date. This is a big family event so round up the troops and get signed up by Friday evening.
