I talked to Seamus at Belsan’s Bait and he said that main topic of conversation at the shop has remained steadily focused on stripers; in spite of the fact that fresh fish have not made it to their local water yet. There have been a few holdover fish reported from the Weymouth area, and lots of talk generated by reports coming from Buzzards Bay and parts of the Cape. Those that have been out bending the rod have been focused on trout. The Plymouth ponds were stocked again recently, which has kicked up the action and the news of some broodstock browns has pushed the incentive even further, both Long and Little reportedly received a shot of the outsized brownies. Of course, prespawn largemouth bass action is still underway, although the bass could bed up any day. There has also been some news of offshore haddock, so far those trips have just been okay. And with reports of stripers moving into Buzzards Bay, migratory fish should up soon, could even be this week.
