Bernie’s Bait & Tackle, located in the heart of Sheepshead Bay, has been an icon within the local fishing community for some 50 years. Named after its founder, the shop has moved from its original location to accommodate a huge inventory of bait and fishing tackle. Bernie's has a variety of name brand rods to choose from including G. Loomis, Shakespeare, Tsunami, Lamiglas, Penn, Shimano, Fenwick and many more. If you still can't find the perfect rod, one of Bernie's expert rod builders will build a custom stick to your liking. With respect to reel selection, the shop caries Van Staal, Shimano, Penn, Accurate, Daiwa and Abu Garcia to name a few brands in stock. If you need to tune up or fix one of your old reels, Bernie’s has plenty of reel parts in stock for “do it yourselfers” and expert mechanics on staff for those who wish to leave these tasks in the hands of professionals. As far as bait is concerned, Bernie’s always has the freshest bait in season including live eels, shiners, and worms (blood, sand, red, and earth), fresh bunker and a complete selection of fresh frozen baits.
