Fishing aboard the Big Mohawk III this past week saw some good catches of fluke and sea bass. Greg Hueth told me he lost a couple days to the weather this past week however the days he got pool fish were in the 6- to 7-pound class a with the top fish being a 13-pound flukeasaurus. While there was still a ton of shorts, the number of keepers this past week were a lot better even on Saturday when the rough morning seas made for some tough fishing. “Hopefully the fishing will be even better this week,” he said.

“We saw up and down fluke fishing in the second half August,” said Greg Heuth of the Big Mohawk III. He said the fishing was very good in the middle of August but a broken sewer pike in New York seems to have pushed most of the bigger fish - which had pushed in closer - back into deeper water. I asked Greg what he thought about September and he said it will be interesting to see how the fluke fishing plays out. However so far there are no adult bunker being seen along the northern coast.
