Bob from Bobs Bait and Tackle let me know bass and have been mixed with blues on the open beaches by Gilgo and Robert Moses Beach being caught on sandworms, bunker chunks and clams. Bob also noted the blowfish and kingfish have moved in and can be caught on the sand beaches too. Use sandworms and clam for them but smaller pieces as opposed to stripers and bluefish.

Bob Rose at Bob's Bait and Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the fishing was excellent all week. Anglers have had bass, weaks, blues and fluke, and all the action is inside the bay. Anglers have found the bite to be great on whatever they are targeting. The early am is producing good weakfish action in the Copiague Hole. Blowfish are in the Sore Thumb taking worms and clams. If you want blues, they are scattered but the best action is east side of the Great South Bay Bridge. Off the pier at Tanner Park, crabs, blues and bass are the word.

Bob from Bobs Bait and Tackle let me know a lot weakfish entered the bay by the Fire Island area and caught be caught using small soft plastics on a jighead. Stripers are also being caught from the sand beach at Robert Moses and on the inside by the Moses bridge and drawbridge. Bluefish have been spotty at Overlook Beach too but those that are catching are using a mix of tins and pencil poppers.

Bob Rose at Bob's Bait and Tackle in Amity Harbor reported the bite is on. Stripers are all over the bay with sand worms the best bet, but soft plastics and popping plugs have produced as well. Blues are along the beach smacking Diamond Jigs and Umbrella rigs. Weakfish showed in force this week at Ocean Beach and Copiague Hole. Soft plastics are your best bet. Fluke are active in the State Channel off Babylon. Bucktails tipped with spearing and squid have worked well. Early season blowfish popped up in the Thumb and State Channel. A showing of blue claws showed at Tanner Park.
