Tony Guarino of Booked Off Charters said that they had some planned down time this past week and only fished on Thursday for fluke. Overall, fluke fishing continues to be slow compared to prior years but they are finding a decent number of keepers and the sea bass fishing has been improving which helps balance out the lower numbers of fluke. They will be back at it full time this week with a full day fluke trip scheduled for Monday and then bass and potentially some offshore trips next weekend.

Tony Guarino of Booked Off Charters said that they have been doing very well targeting striped bass out around Block Island with plenty of big fish in the 30- to 40-pound class being caught on light tackle. Sharks are becoming an issue in some areas, but they have been doing their best to avoid them while targeting bass. Ground fishing for fluke and sea bass has been producing steady action but they have been seeing more short fish than keepers on recent trips. The near shore bluefin bite has been pretty slow the last couple of weeks. There is a good amount of bait and marine life out there but tuna have been tough to find. Further out in the canyons, there have been reports of good fishing for yellowfin tuna.
