At Boulevard Bait and Tackle in Sea Isle City fluke have been hitting Gulp on jigheads down by Townsend’s Inlet. A push of some chopper bluefish also ran through the suds this week to hit mullet. Kingfish have also begun to show up in good numbers now so it’s time to break out the Fishbites.

Danny at Boulevard Bait and Tackle reports that the flounder action was good early in the week with a couple limits plus a 5-pounder weighed in. Hot bait was Gulp and salmon strips. In the inlet, anglers told us that schools of blues were appearing out of nowhere with fish around 20 inches taking cut bait like mullet. Along the surf, other anglers tell us that the kingfish have arrived and are taking bloodworms. Full results of the Slack Tide Flounder Tournament will be available next week.

Boulevard Bait and Tackle reports that the back bay flounder action was “fantastic” this week. Some anglers reported limits of fish while others had a keeper or two out of the dozen fish landed per trip. Some really nice back bay fish hit the scales this week including several in the 4- to 6-pound range, and a real fatty measuring 26 inches and tipping the scale at 6 pounds, 10 ounces. The fish were voracious this week taking live minnows, salmon strips, Gulps fished on leadheads and cut baits. Surf and inlet action was also very good this week with anglers finding bluefish and kingfish. The blues were running from 16 to 24 inches and taking metals and SP minnows. Kingfish action was on bloodworms or Fishbites.
