Brenden from Captree Bait and Tackle checked in saying the way to grab some larger fluke off the dock is to use Gulp on the back of bucktails and tip it with a spearing as well. This has been a productive way to catch some keepers from the pier by the shop. Also, he said the snapper fishing has started and they’re up to 4 inches right now. They also make a great fluke bait right now. He suggested a sabiki rig for the snappers.

Brenden at Captree Bait and Tackle Shop on Captree Island reported that the charter boat “Patty Ann” reported the Hudson Canyon has been producing yellowfin from 40-60 pounds as well as a lot of action on mahimahi. The boat kept 12 yellowfin and 15 mahimahi for the table. Inshore fishing continues to produce big fluke up to 6 pounds. Sheepshead, sea bass, porgies, ling and hake are on the local wrecks. The best bet for keeper and larger fluke is Gulp and spearing on bucktails. Snapper fishing has started! Snappers are around 2 to 4 Inches, and can be caught on Sabiki rigs to use as live bait for fluke.
