Down the road at Chasing Tails Bait & Tackle in Oakdale, Billy reported it’s officially the heat of the summer, and it’s time to adjust your fishing accordingly. Bass are out east and holding deep — dredge the inlets with bucktails or any live bait at the right time and you’re on. Bluefish are ripping around the flats, looking for any bait they can manage, and they’re holding strong in those areas. Fluke are plentiful, with some solid keepers in the mix of all the shorts. Sea bass and porgies are on the wrecks and reefs, along with some giant gray triggerfish. Clams on a hi-lo rig will always work for those fun and tasty bottom fish.

Down the road at Chasing Tails Bait & Tackle in Oakdale, Billy reported tuna have finally made their push towards the shore. Poppers, plastics, and side trackers are producing a good bite in the 10 plus mile ranges. Fluke are finally the talk of the town this week. Seems like that warmer water really made things move around. Weakfish are showing up alongside them, and that’s making everyone happy. Sea bass action on the local reefs and wrecks is good; better fish are out at the farther wrecks. Bluefish are ripping around, holding on the flats and stalking the bait they can find. Stripers are held up in the inlets, deep. Dredge some bucktails or send a live eel down for the best shot at some good fishing, especially with this moon.
