Chestnut Neck Boat Yard

With more wind out of the northeast this weekend, the bay and river are again swollen with water, baitfish and stripers according to Violet with Chestnut Neck Boat Yard. Anglers got out a couple days this week and found stripers to 27 inches on live eels, soft plastics and on the troll. In the bay, spot, croakers and triggerfish were still being caught in good numbers despite the recent drop in water temperatures. The key to finding and catching these fish is to chum heavily with clam logs. Bait choices have ranged from bloodworms, clam strips, squid strips and Fishbites.

Chestnut Neck Boat Yard reports that the Mullica is “swollen” with both water and baitfish. The recent winds have pushed peanuts way up the river. As soon as the wind dies down, anglers will likely be back to trolling rubber shads and should be back on the stripers. Prior to the blow, stripers to 30 inches were being taken on the troll, on hard plastics and on live eels. In the bay, kingfish, croakers, spot, blowfish and triggerfish were all being caught in good numbers and will hopefully stick around for a few more weeks.
