Violet at Chestnut Neck Boat Yard reports a very slow week with many anglers already hanging up their gear and storing their boats for the winter. The boatyard is open Thursday thru Sunday and by appointment. Some perch are being caught in the creeks, but there aren’t many anglers out in pursuit of perch when the temperature is in the 30s.

Violet at Chestnut Neck Boat Yard reports that stripers are being caught in the ocean, but the river bite has come to a screeching halt due to the cold water temperatures. In the ocean, reports are that the fish are at, and sometimes past the 3-mile-line. These fish have been mostly “overs” to 46 inches and are feeding alongside bluefin as they bust the surface on massive schools of sand eels. The river and creeks are holding plenty of white perch for anglers fishing with bloodworms.
