The Derby beat goes on and according to Steve at Dick’s Bait and Tackle there is a very tough to beat 17-pound albie at the top of that division leader board. While all the harbors and inlets have schoolies and bonito the much bigger fish are being caught south of the island and in Nantucket waters. Tons of small tailor blues are in all the harbors and beaches and those 3-pounders are delicious if bled and iced as soon as being caught. I’ve fed those little fillets to people who were bluefish haters until they tried those well cared for fish. There have been good numbers of stripers from Gay Head to Menemsha and Lobsterville and many of them are in the 28 to 34-inch class.
