Fisherman's Den

Fishing is looking up over at the Shark River Inlet said sources over at the Fisherman’s Den. Tom told me striped bass are still being caught at the inlet on plugs and cut bunker. Some bass are also being caught in the wash to the north and south of the inlet and the store got reports of more bass and bunker still moving up from the south. Rental boats fluke fishing in the inlet and river have been seeing mostly shorts being caught along with an occasional keepers. The water is just too cold especially on the incoming tide, we were told. Lastly they said most party boats are not sailing until the sea bass season opens on May 15.

Anglers fishing Shark River Inlet caught stripers this past week according to Tom over at the Fisherman’s Den. He also mentioned that some bass were also caught in the local Surf. Increasing amounts of fluke are also moving into the inlet and river and anglers fishing for stripers have been playing catch and release with them. The rental boats are in the water and quite a few were also rented for Monday’s fluke opener. Tom ended his report by saying some of the party boats will be switching to fluke fishing this coming week.
