At Grumpy’s Tackle in Seaside Park, the crew reports of a continuous clam bite in the surf suds anywhere in the seaside to IBSP stretch as anglers report running out of bait and leaving fish biting. An influx of black drum reports hit this week as well as fish to about 30 pounds were also gobbling up clam baits on the higher tides. Some rumors of bluefish were also around in the suds and a couple anglers connected with a few fluke, which should pick up daily with warming water temps.

Our friends at Grumpys Bait & Tackle reported that young angler Ty stopped in to show off his personal-best striped bass, a beautiful 41-inch fish landed at sunset in Seaside Park on an SP Minnow worked through the surf. Tom B also found steady action off the beach, connecting with a mix of striped bass and black drum while fishing clams in the wash. Following the recent storm system, Savanah P got right back into the bite and landed a quality striper of her own. Overall, the shop said the doors have been swinging with excited anglers coming in to share photos and stories, as the spring surf bite continues to heat up along the coast.

I poked my head into Grumpys Tackle in Seaside Park for what else but to pick up some fresh clams to cast for stripers as that has been modus operandi for every angler in the area. A seemingly unstoppable bite is going on at IBSP and the local shores with Scotty at the shop saying it’s the best he may have seen ever. Though clams are top baits, bunker chunks and plugs and gliders are also getting slammed day in and day out. I found that the end of the incoming tides are producing the most action.

Our friends at Grumpys Bait & Tackle said it’s been a full-on striper blitz of reports all week—bass, bass, and more bass. Customers have been flooding the shop with photos, showcasing steady success along the surf line. Clams have been the top producer, consistently fooling hungry stripers, while paddle tails are also getting crushed by these linesiders. Adding to the excitement, black drum are showing up in better numbers by the day, with more anglers hooking into these hard-pulling fish. The spring bite is clearly building momentum, and the surf is alive with opportunity.
