Jersey Devil Marina reports a “spotty” bite in the Mullica River this week on the striper front. Anglers claimed that they marked fish and tried trolling, jigging and live baits but couldn’t get many fish to bite. Those who did manage to get a couple of fish in the boat reported that live eels and live spot did the trick for them with fish in the bonus tag size range.

The crew at Jersey Devil Marina also reported a slowdown this week in the Mullica for stripers. Anglers were marking some fish, but just couldn’t get all that many of them to bite. Live eels and live spot did account for the majority of the catch this week, with fish from 20 to 26 inches. White perch action was “decent” according to some anglers. While there were not huge numbers of fish caught this week, the ones that were caught were jumbos in the 3/4- to 1-pound range.
