Over at Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven a while mess of black drum moved into the area as clams stuck fish up to 40 pounds in the deeper cuts on the south end of the island. Bass fishing remains constant and hasn’t let up much yet from the phenomenal spring run. A couple of bluefish move through the waters here and there to hit chunk baits.

Steve at Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven reported an impressive stretch of action highlighted by quality catches of striped bass and black drum. Derek Correia led the way with a beautiful striped bass weighing 10.25 pounds and measuring 30.99 inches, taken on bunker in the Beach Haven Terrace area. He also added a couple of black drum to his successful outing, making for a productive day on the water. The action didn’t stop there, as Jamie, Richie, and friends enjoyed a strong trip with steady catches of both striped bass and black drum. Rich Sherman also made headlines with a hefty black drum weighing 30.15 pounds and stretching 37 inches, caught on clams. Matt and PJ Shapiro each added black drum of their own, rounding out a memorable day of surf and bay action for local anglers.

At Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven the bite is on at LBI. Fresh and salted clams are accounting for a ton of striped bass, ranging anywhere from slot to 45 inches long. Black drum continue to suck up clams as well near the south end of the island at Holgate and Beach Haven areas with some boomers up to 35 pounds. A few big bluefish were hooked on clams and bunker chunks this week topping out at 12 pounds.

Steve at Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven reported that striped bass, bluefish, and black drum continue to provide excellent action along the surf. Fresh clams remain one of the most productive offerings, accounting for many of the recent catches up and down the beach. One standout report came from Richie and Jamie, who stopped in and purchased the shop’s last batch of surf clams before heading to the sand. The bait paid immediate dividends, as the duo got into fish almost right away. Richie landed a hard-fighting black drum, while Jamie connected with a striped bass, and the action never really slowed down from there. By the end of the outing, the pair had racked up an impressive 16 total catches. Adding to an already memorable trip, Richie capped off the day with a beautiful 44-inch striped bass, highlighting the quality of fish currently cruising the local surf.
