At Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven, reports are that the LBI Surf Fishing Classic is dominated by tautog being caught most likely around the rocks up north as fish to 3.5 or 4 pounds are coming in consistently. A few kingfish and bluefish are still roaming the suds while LBI still waits a good push of bass to move on in. Don’t forget you can sign up for the old “Derby” (aka LBI Surf Fishing Classic) anytime through the run of the nine-week tournament.

At Jingles Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven the surf has been a story of a few small bluefish and kingfish reaching a pound while stripers quieted down a little this week with the heave. Best shots at bass are morning or in the middle of the night with plugs and chunk baits. Blackfishing continues to be super up at the inlet as sand fleas have been the top bait, especially with LBI Sur Fishing Classic weigh-ins from the rocks.

Steve at Jingle’s Bait and Tackle in Beach Haven said fishing has been slow. He said it seems that the water temperatures are decreasing off LBI. He believes once the water temperature drops, striper will start to move down. He is anticipating that the beginning of November will have a good push of bait and striper will follow with the colder water.
