It was another decent week of and on good weather and fishing along the northern coast, said Jay over at Julian’s Bait & Tackle. He told us anglers stopping in at the shop told him of some good catches of croakers and small blues are still coming from the back waters of the bay and some bigger blues, with bonito, albies and Spanish macs mixed in are being taken outside by party boats.

“With everything being late in the first part of the year it was nice to see a good August fishing wise,” said Capt. Bunting over at Julian’s Bait & Tackle. With the right conditions he believes that September could be even better for fluke fishing than August. Likewise with all the bluefish, bonito, Spanish mackerel and false albacore, along with some cobia along the inshore waters, they too should serve up some good action in September. He also mentioned tons of baitfish all over and you can expect plenty of fish to be fattening up in September. The tuna action in the offshore waters also picked up as we headed into the final week of August and this too should set up some good fishing for September.
