The word from Steve over at Julian?s Bait & Tackle was good striped bass fishing but spotty blackfishing. Steve told me very few anglers are tog fishing out of the Atlantic Highlands and most of the serious Blackfishermen are fishing on Belmar boats. When it comes to the striped bass fishing it?s just the opposite, just about all the boats fishing out of the Highlands are fishing for stripers, even with the good numbers of tog in the upper bay.

Striped bass continued to be the top story when I spoke with Jay over at Julian?s Bait & Tackle. He said it was another good week for striped bass fishing in Raritan Bay and in the ocean down from Sandy Hook. While the mid-week rains and winds cost us a few days there was a fair amount to anglers fishing in the morning on Thanksgiving Day. Most of the bass were taken on the toll over the weekend. Likewise the number of anglers fishing for tog is also increasing and some better reports started to come into the store over the weekend. Tog fishing also got good marks in the backwater areas but was slower in the ocean, Jay said.
