Julian's Bait and Tackle

“It was another weather interrupted week of fishing,” said Jay over at Julian’s Bait & Tackle. He said that makes three weeks in a row and hopefully the weather problems are over for a while. He said the bass fishing picked back up starting Thursday evening and got progressively better on Friday. He too said there is no question that the migratory fish are starting to move through our northern waters and let’s hope the bunker will soon show up to greet them. As of the weekend the bottom was still too roughed up for the tog fishing but he did get decent reports on the sea bass fishing with most anglers picking through a lot of shorts to get a few keepers if you could get by the dogfish, he said. He told us he expects the whitechins to start hitting by the middle of this week.

The word from Jay over at Julian’s Bait & Tackle was we should have had some good fishing for the local stripers, if only the weather would have stayed away on the weekends. He said the bulk of the fishing is on the weekends in the fall and they sure were not favorable to anglers this year. He said the way it looks as of this report there will be plenty of stripers and tog around in November. “Now we need some good weather to put anglers on the water with a chance to take the fish,” he said.
