This past week saw some spotty bass action on most days according to sources over at the Keyport Marine Basin. Saturday’s lousy morning weather cut down on the number of anglers fishing on Saturday. Like most other marinas they got reports of boaters reading a lot of fish but picky action with the bass turning on for a shot time then shutting down just as fast.

There are plenty of bass in Raritan Bay and surrounding waters and boats have been reading them on their sonar units, said sources over at Keyport Marine Basin. The boats that have been doing best have been fishing the back bay in the upper Reach and other early season spots out of the wind. The problem has been getting there with a bay that sometimes has two to three foot white caps on they said.
