Captain Joe from the King Cod VII out of Captree shared his Saturday, December 6 Offshore Wreck Report, noting challenging conditions with strong leftover moon current and shifting winds all morning. Despite the tough start, a few well-placed drops produced limits of giant sea bass up to just under 5 pounds, though anglers sifted through more shorts than the previous trip. Scup were abundant. A deep blackfish drop on the ride home showed little life, but Captain Joe said they’ll continue bringing crabs and will keep taking shots at tog whenever possible.

Capt. Joe on the King Cod VII delivered a standout deep-water trip this week with fast, “up and down” giant sea bass action in the deep. After an easy ride east with a NW wind at their back, the crew settled on the grounds and immediately filled limits of big sea bass to 4.77 pounds on clams, squid, and jigs. After limiting out, they hit several inshore wrecks in 100–120 feet, picking keeper blackfish, shorts, and additional sea bass released unharmed. With deep-water action described as “tremendous,” the King Cod is running 2 a.m. offshore sea bass/wreck trips daily (weather permitting), with space reserved via text at 631-605-1404.
