King Cod VII Archives - The Fisherman

King Cod VII

September 08, 2026 - 01:27:58

On the King Cod VII out of Captree I heard from Capt. Joe reported that the ocean fluke fishing saw its ups and downs this week. The slower trips came around the moon, with ripping current and east wind. However, when anglers had good conditions, they had good fishing. Top couple of fluke for the week were in the 7-pound range. Some nice limits, with the majority of keepers in the 21 to 24-inch range. Tons of shorts, some sea bass, triggerfish and bonito were in the mix. The boat is fishing anywhere from 50 to 110-feet of water now with fluke in all depths. They sail 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., weather and interest permitting. Trips are limited to 20 anglers max, drifting one side of the boat. Text Capt. Joe at 631-605-1404 to reserve.

On the King Cod VII out of Captree I heard from Capt. Joe reported ocean fluke fishing was strong early on in the week, with a lot of nice keepers to 8 pounds landed. Things faded a bit towards the weekend in the keeper department, with another influx of 17 to 19-inch shorts leaving the bays. The boat is going to check out some deeper areas this week coming, and might also post up some mixed bag wind farm trips for fluke, sea bass, blues, triggers, bonito and anything else that might bite. Keep an eye on the boats social media pages, or text Capt. Joe at 631-605-1404 for reservations and the latest info. They sail daily at 6 a.m. from the far right side of the dock. All trips are limited to 20 anglers max by reservation.
