The staff at the LI Outdoorsman in Rockville Centre told me that fluking was hit or miss but some fish to 5-1/2 pounds were captured. Bass action in the bay was far better than on the outside. The staff at the LI Outdoorsman in Rockville Centre told me that bass action during the week was hit or miss, but when the bass hit action was solid. Jamaica Bay is on fire. Some other top spots were Jones Inlet, Cedar Beach, and Short Beach by the Coast Guard Station. Bass were responding to trolled rigs in the State Channel. Some fluke were caught and released in the bay. The shop hours are now Monday to Wednesday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The shop will have all the baits you will need for the spring bass, sea bass, and fluke season.
