?We got in some good striped bass fishing this past week,? said Capt. Joe Occhipinti of the charter boat Little Hawk. This past fall was one of the best we have ever seen and it?s a shame the powers that be crashed the party with insane regulations that only killed more fish and did not help the striped bass population or the fishing industry, Joe lamented.

Little Hawk Charters is a family-run business with 2 licensed captains (Capt. Joe Occhipinit Sr. and Jr.) with a total of 65 years of experience in fishing the Sandy Hook area. They run over 300 trips during a 7 month season and that should tell you something about their reputation. Little Hawk Charters also uses the latest equipment to maximize your success. All rods, reels and tackle are supplied and the captains never worry about how much fuel they use in pursuit of fish. They only use fresh sacks of clams (never frozen), carry plenty of eels and always have more than enough bait for any given trip. Your fish are kept on ice, filleted and bagged for you at the end of the trip. The deck hands are experienced and courteous and will tend to all of your needs. The Little Hawk itself is a 52 foot Sportfisherman, custom built in Harkers Island, NC and designed for fishing in complete comfort with parties of 1 to 17 people. It is a charter boat like no other in Atlantic Highlands. Some of her features include an 18 foot beam, twin 871 Detroit Diesel engines, two color LCD radars, color GPS plotter, three VHF radios, color fishfinder, Loran and Hailer, along with a large, comfortable, climate controlled cabin complete with a head, galley and color TV.
