The Atlantic City area jetties once again are the hot spot along the coast according to Noel of One Stop Bait and Tackle in Atlantic City. Stripers are gobbling up bloodworms and clams both during day and night hours and theres been a lot of slot fish around to bring home for the dinner table. Blackfishing is also super off the rocks as they are hitting bloods and green crabs. Black drum also moved into the area as clammers off the rocks are getting into 20- to 25-pound class fish.

Black drum, kingfish and now another first for Atlantic City as far as I know; flounder. Noel with One Stop Bait and Tackle tells us that a customer of his landed a nice size summer flounder from the Melrose Ave. Jetty on a Zoom bait this week. The zooms and other soft plastics are catching the heck out of the striped bass on all the AC jetties. Noel himself got a dozen one morning. Lots of the fish are falling in the slot range, but there are some that are well over, pushing 44 inches. Young Justin Cruz (first kingfish last week) made it to the board again this week with a nice slot striper weighing in at 9 pounds. As of Sunday, Noel was waiting for a couple of customers to check in with what they claim to be two colossal drum they had just caught. The tape measure and scale will tell us if they were colossal or not, but the fact is that the drum bite continues to improve in the back bays. Lastly, the tog bite has been nothing short of phenomenal, with plenty of keepers, including several anglers coming in with limits of tog from the local jetties. The shops tog ($500) and striper ($1,000) tournament runs through the end of the month. Free sign up and all the details are available in the shop.

Bass fishing is bangin according to Noel of One Stop Bait and Tackle in Atlantic City. It seems like stripers really moved in big time as bass to 40 inches are being caught off any of the area jetty rocks. Its a consistent bite with dozens of fish being checked in this week as worms seem to be working best to hook up. Blackfish are also cooperating off the T-Jetty rocks with green crabs claiming fish to 3 pounds plus. The surprising news out of Noels shop on Sunday was the 1.9-pound kingfish that was caught in the local surf on bloodworm.

Not the best weather this week, but when fishing from the AC Jetties, the weather doesnt matter much according to Noel with One Stop Bait and Tackle. The striper bite and the tog bite are hot and heavy right now from the ocean front. At least a dozen tog have already been weighed in to the shops tog tournament, and even more stripers are being caught in that division. Tog are taking green crabs at just about every jetty. The stripers have been moving around from jetty to jetty, and Noel advises if you are not seeing fish on one particular jetty, dont be afraid to move to another. These fish are being caught on bloodworms, clams, plugs and soft plastics. Fish to 40 pounds were caught this week, and the night bite has been even hotter than the daytime bite. Despite 4-pound tog and a 14-pound striper weighed in this week, a shout out has to go to Justin Cruz who was fishing with his dad Ronald when he brought in the first kingfish of the season. Not just your run of the mill kingfish either, this one weighed in at 1-pound, 14 ounces. Outstanding catch for this young man.
