Abbie at Quonnie Bait and Tackle reported that anglers continue to do well targeting striped bass at night with live eels. The breachways and rocky stretches along the beaches all seem to be holding some quality bass. Fluke fishing has been improving with more keepers being caught from 50- to 60-feet of water off the beaches. Fishing for black sea bass has also been improving with more keepers moving into the area and there are plenty of scup around. There has been quite a bit of mackerel around but no reports yet on green bonito or false albacore moving into the area.

Abbie at Quonnie Bait and Tackle said that customers have been doing pretty well fishing for fluke and black sea bass off the beaches. The bite has been a little inconsistent and you need to work for the fish but those that are putting in time are finding some nice sized keepers. Some nice fluke have also been caught in the salt ponds and breachways. Scup fishing has been producing well with boat and shore-based anglers finding good numbers of good-sized slabs. Fishing for striped bass continues to produce some solid bass, especially after dark with live eels or chunk baits. There has been an increase in the number of brown sharks over the last couple of weeks and a few surfcasters and boaters have reported having run ins with them. Offshore, targeting bluefin on the near and mid-shore grounds that are south of Block and Montauk has been slow but boats that have been running out to the canyons are doing well.
