Over at Ramsey Outdoors in Succasunna Don also told us of good striped bass fishing in the suds along the central portion of the state. He said several anglers told him the bass were smashing any that you put in front of them. He told us he also got reports of a lot of bass moving into the lower Passaic and Hackensack rivers. Reports on the blackfishing in the ocean are still of spotty catches. However fishing in New York Harbor and the backwaters of Raritan Bay continue to be good he said. I checked with the folks over at the store in Ramsey and they too said they got good reports on the surf fishing for bass from Seaside down the coast to Cape May.

A call to Don over at Ramsey Outdoors in Succasunna got us word of some decent trout fishing in the Rockaway, Pequest, Ramapo and Flat Brook. Don also mentioned some decent crappie fishing in most local small ponds and lakes on small jig-plasticbait combinations and Gulp fished under floats mainly in the afternoons. Over at the Ramsey store we were also told of some good trout fishing in the northern streams thanks to the good water levels. On the walleye front Monksville, Greenwood and Swartswood Lake were the top spots. Here too we got good reports on the steelhead and brown trout fishing in Lake Ontario tributary streams this past week.

We gave the folks over at Ramsey Outdoors in Succasunna a shout and were also told of some good trout in the fall stocked northern trout streams. Water levels are up from the recent rains and the best fishing is downstream from the stocking points, we were told. In addition we were told of some decent crappie fishing in some of the local lakes and ponds and good pike fishing in the Passaic River. Trout fishing was also at the top of the list when we spoke to Andrew over at the Ramsey Store. He told us the Rockaway, Pequest. Lower Musconetcong and the Paulinskill were also still serving up good numbers of nice rainbows. Green Turtle Pond also got a good mention when it comes to the trout fishing. :likewise he mentioned some good walleye and perch fishing in Monksville and Greenwood lakes, and of continued good steelhead and brown trout fishing in the Lake Ontario tributary streams.

Stripers and tog fishing were the main topic when I spoke with the folks over at Ramsey Outdoors in Succasunna. They pointed out that with most marinas closing for the season many die hard anglers are switching over to surf fishing for the stripers and a few are even fishing for winter flounder from the shorelines and bulkheads in the rivers. Most of those stopping by the store are looking for Christmas presents, he said. I checked with Andrew over at the Ramsey Store and he told me he got good reports on the striped bass fishing and said a lot of the action in the surf was in the middle of the state from Manasquan through Long Beach Island. Lastly he told us anglers were doing well with the tog in New York Harbor and the back bay areas.
