Roger Aziz, Jr. in Methuen and Bob Langley have been fishing brackish sections of the Merrimack River and Parker River for loads of white perch to 1 pound, 10 ounces. Bob’s been catching his on a jig sweetened with a mummichog while Rog has been using worms on a homemade rig. The perch have been on bottom or suspended at mid depth. On one trip last week Rog and Bob combined for at least 125 boated and many, many others missed. Baldpate Pond and Plug’s Pond (Lake Saltonstall) were stocked with rainbow trout October 13.

Roger Aziz, Jr. in Methuen informed readers that several of his favorite venues have been stocked with trout for the fall including Forest Lake in Methuen and Stile’s Pond in Boxford. However, neither Baldpate Pond nor Plug’s Pond (Lake Saltonstall) has yet been stocked. Rog and his dad worked Forest Lake for nine trout, keeping three browns apiece and releasing two browns and a rainbow. Besides the trout, they put a pile of white perch ranging 11 to 13 inches into the boat. Roger also fished the Merrimack River behind the Covanta recycling plant and scored a number of big yellow perch up to 14 inches. A gentleman at the same spot had a 38-inch pike on a glide bait.
