Pablo over at J&J Sports in Patchogue chatted with me and said he knew the fly fishing portion of the Connetquot River was active on most of the ?beats? below the hatchery. Some of the warmer days did trigger a dry fly bite but he said you can?t go wrong with a small streamer or midge for consistent results with brook and rainbow trout. West Lake, by the shop was also another local producer according to his customers. The shop got a shipment in of all trout-related items that will work for the fish in that local pond.

Mike over at Saltwaters Bait and Tackle in West Islip told me he noticed some more participation with the better weather. Southards Pond gave up a handful of pickerel and trout while Bubbles Falls and Rattlesnake creek were producing a few trout for those fishing powerbait and doughballs. The tidal section of the Connetquot saw a decent pick of perch again on grass shrimp and nightcrawlers. Small plastic tails rigged on jigheads were a good choice as well.
