Mike at Saltwaters Bait and Tackle in West Islip let me know the surf has been made up of some bluefish and the occasional striper at Cedar on tins and chucks while the backside of Demo has been seeing a decent bite of fluke from the shoreline.

At Saltwaters Bait and Tackle in West Islip I heard there are fluke from the Light to inlet. There are some blues around in the early a.m. Fluke action at the reef picked up this week with some larger fish showing along with sea bass. Yellowfin are in the canyons, while bluefin are on the closer areas. For the remainder of the fluke season, Saltwaters will also be carrying live killies, so come on down for some of what a lot of anglers feel is the best live bait for big fluke.

Mike at Saltwaters Bait and Tackle in West Islip let me know it’s been summer fishing as usual. The sharks and rays are being caught at Moses, Smith Point and Gilgo while fluke continue to be caught inside the Fire Island Inlet from the shoreline. Some small snappers are starting to get caught from the docks in the Islip area.

At Saltwaters Bait and Tackle in West Islip I heard the fluke action remained very good inside the bay with a lot of fish caught, and plenty of keepers to go around. The shop also heard of fluke on the outside pieces, with sea bass action really gaining speed too. Back inside the bay, stripers, albeit mostly small, can be had on clams at the Moses Bridge or with soft plastics after dark. Offshore, again this week was find the clean water and you will find a good yellowfin bite. On the docks, small crabs, with some larger ones caught by sharpies has been the word.
