Sea Wife IV

Capt. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports a very windy December; however they were able to get on Friday December 11 with Pablo, Frankie, and the boys, hitting spots from the windmills to the SW corner of Coxes Ledge for a pick at sea bass, ling, perch, scup and cod. The next day saw Fitzroy, Chris, Stanley, Chris, and the boys picked away at blackfish, ling, sea bass, perch, scup and one cod. The “Sea Wife IV” is out and on dry dock for maintenance, a paint job and USCG inspection and will be back in water and ready for action by the beginning of April. The Sea Wife IV from Montauk stayed docked up last week due to high winds. They have some spots open for the beginning of next week.

On the Sea Wife IV Friday Joe Cushman, Freddy and the boys caught a sea bass limit, five cod and a blackfish limit up to 9 pounds during the Friday trip. Saturday John Lafever and his HVAC gang had good action along with a few cod and a pile of porgies to boot. Sunday, John Helgans and his group of 10 guys caught a sea bass limit, porgies and a cod for a good day. A few spots are open during the week in December so call soon to make reservations.

Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports being blown out the whole week except for Saturday when Mike Petito, Andrew Baier, John, Tom and the gang bagged an impressive sea bass limit, a few scup, a couple of cod, and 21 beautiful keeper blackfish. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports that on Monday, Josh, Kurt Lawrence, Rich, Rich Jr., Mike, Joe, Dallas, and Robert caught a sea bass limit, a pile of scup, 7 keeper cod before catching a load of short stripers and 2 bluefish. Nice job guys. Tuesday, Fitzroy Nurse, Peter, Hubert, Stanley, Chris, and Rick started out nailing a pile of blackfish, only keeping 12 before bagging a sea bass limit, a pile of scup and 6 cod. Good job boys. Wednesday, Barry, Tony, Mike, Phil, Phil Jr., Jim, Jimmy, Brian, Beckham, Keith, and Rob bagged a boat limit of seabass a pile of scup as well as a bunch of nice cod. Thurs-Barry returned, with Mike, Phil, Phil Jr., Beckham, Tony and Keith nailed a blackfish limit of 36 keepers, 24 sea bass, a few scup, and a cod. Nice job. Friday and Saturday regretfully was lost to Capt. Tom’s family funeral (our deepest condolence Captain). Sunday, Fitz, Geno, Doug, Tim, Hugh, and Mark left early to beat the weather and bagged sea bass limit, a bunch of scup, and a few cod. Good going boys. Fishing remains good. Please call Capt. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports Wednesday, James Kolk “Bruce Supply”, Joe, John Jr, Gary, Jerry, Vinny and Kevin bagged a sea bass limit, a pile of bluefish, and weeded through tons of small stripers to bag a couple of slot sized keeper bass. Good job guys. Thursday, Chris Higgins, Keith, Phil, Tandy, Sean, Mike, Steve, Matt, Andrew, and Bob had a nice day also bagging a sea bass limit a bunch of big scup, a bunch of bluefish, and a few slot limit stripers on jigs and chutes while releasing a pile of undersized fish. Friday, Don, Gary, and Gayle Thompson fished hard and bagged a sea bass limit a bunch of big scup, a bunch of blackfish along with diamond jigging blues and short stripers. Pretty work. Saturday, Matt Minogue and Bud made quick work of a sea bass limit at Block Island along with big scup, then proceeded to catch their blackfish limit as well. Fun day in great weather guys. Good day gang. Wednesday, Steve Burns, Stanley, Darren, Greg, Dave, Tommy, Ray, and Brian caught a pile of blues a sea bass limit, and a slot sized striper limit Good job. Thursday, Philip Mendonca, Mike, Compton, Joshua, Patrick, James, Brittany, and Jewels also bagged big blues, a box full of sea bass, scup and a bunch of slot sized stripers, weeding through a bunch of shorties. Saturday, Steve Sax, Hank, Christopher, Casey, Enrique, and Yanni bagged a sea bass limit then went on to finish the diamond jigging all the bass and bluefish you want at the point. Capt. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports on Sunday, Ralph DiMartino, Joe, Brian, John, Eric, and Ron bagged a slot sized striper limit before making the trip a 1/2 day due to increasing SE wind. Monday, Adam, Ed, Martin, George, Dylan, Ishmael, and Raphael boxed 9 big blackfish, releasing a bunch of shorts. They then played catch and release with a bunch of stripers using diamond jigs in front of the Montauk Lighthouse releasing them all. Tuesday, Mike Wilson, Drew, Herb, Keith, Al, and Brandon made quick work of a slot sized striper limit along with a sea bass limit and jumbo scup. Great day boys. On Wednesday, Larry Hollings, Dennis, Herb, Dominic, Tiny, and John boxed a slot limit of stripers, a bunch of blues, a sea bass limit, and a cooler full of Block Island porgies. Thursday, Mike Torrez, Pat, John, Steve, and PJ bagged a striper limit along with a load of under and over size bass, which were released then proceeded to put a sea bass limit along with big scup in the box. Good job guys. Friday, Billy Vavricka, John, Tim, Dan, Tom, and Franco bagged a striper limit, a bunch of monster blues, a sea bass limit, along with gigantic scup. Dan caught and released a 53-pound striper. Great day guys. Saturday, Kenny Masci, John Dena, Jackie, Gene, Steve and James weeded through 35 bluefish to bag a slot sized striper limit then switched over to bag a nice sea bass limit and jumbo Block Island porgies. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports Sunday, Jim Denzer, Mike, Veto, Harvey, Matt, Rose, Connor, and Andrew total enjoyed some of the best striped bass fishing anyone could imagine with diamond jigs and rigs working awesomely. The gang only kept their slot limit releasing everything else unharmed. The rest of the week was a blowout until Thursday when Dennis, John, John Jr., Winston, Larry and John bagged a bunch of blackfish, a few sea bass and a striper limit. Friday Matt “Duke” Adee, Mike, Brian, Rob, Todd, Paul Kelly and the gang also experienced the best striper fishing imaginable with a limit of slot fish kept and the rest released. Tuesday John Dena, Mark, Brian, Chris, Mike, Corey and Mike bagged a slot sized striper limit on rigs and jigs along with a jumbo sea bass limit and big scup. Good job guys, fun day. Friday, Anthony, Bob Coffey, Gianna, Uncle Pat, Giovanni and Anthony bagged a slot sized striper limit along with 40 keeper sea bass and jumbo scup. The big bluefish showed up as well. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports that on Sunday and Monday, Jonathon Mayes, Joe, Joel, Ernest, Álvaro, and Milton bagged their striper slot limit on diamond jigs and rigs then bagged a nice sea bass limit with jumbo scup to boot. Great job. Tuesday, Lukas, Bob Gomez, Tony, Conrad, Bill, and John caught their slot limit of stripers as well as a bottom fish bonanza. Thursday, Eugene Canty, August, Mike, and Scott must’ve caught 100 stripers, keeping their slot limit along with a bluefish limit. Good job boys. Friday, Murph, Mike, Dan, and Tyler bested their striper slot limit along with an impressive catch of their jumbo sea bass limit and big Block Island porgies. Great day guys. Saturday, Hank Connell, Jordan, Zach, Rich, John, George, Nick, and Rob weeded through a load of slot sized stripers, keeping their limit of slot fish before heading off to Block Island to beat up the sea bass and scup.

Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports the big fan kept him at the dock until Thursday when Brian Simonetti, Dave, Gerard, Victor, and Pete battled giant stripers on diamond jigs and umbrella rigs keeping their limit of slot sized fish, Dave even caught striped bass on a wire. Wow. The boys then culled through scup and small sea bass keeping 24 nice fish. Good job guys. Friday, Tom Barber, Phil Mando, Bert, Brian, Louie, Andy, Jo Fi, George, Danny, and Troy bagged a striper limit on jigs and umbrella rigs along with 40 keeper sea bass and giant scup. Good day guys. Capt. Tom of the Sea Wife IV reports Monday, Doc Rock, Doc Tom, Doc Keith, Tim, Kelly, and Clay caught a striper slot limit as well as big bluefish. They also released some short stripers and a bunch of big cows to 50-pounds. They then switched efforts to catch a sea bass limit and some jumbo scup mixed in. The doctors returned on Wednesday for a trip to Block Canyon which yielded 10 yellowfin tuna to 70-pounds, as well as a big haul of mahi. Great trip guys. The rest of the week was blown out. Sea bass fishing is awesome, as well as porgy fishing around Montauk. Fluking has been sporadic, but naturally when the drift and wind are favorable, fishing for the big boys has been good.
