Sports Port

We spoke with Garrett from the Sports Port and he said he has one buddy who is still finding some schoolie stripers in the backwaters of a few local salt ponds. The only other saltwater action was the macks in the east end of the Canal. Freshwater fishing has been very good, when it’s not so cold that your line is freezing in your guides! Trout catches continue to keep many anglers busy, live bait and metals have been working well and a few guys are also scoring on the fly rod. Largemouth bass action remains steady, many anglers are switching to soft plastic swimbaits and Ned Rigs lately and the reports coming back have been solid.

We spoke with Garrett from the Sports Port and he also was singing the praises of the east end mackerel and pollock action. Locally, it’s been all about the freshwater action. Trout fishing remains stellar, with good catches reported using just about every method, from metals to mealworms to flies. Also, the largemouth bass action has been very strong, with Slug-Go’s and Neds doing a lot of the damage.
